Possible Avatar Upload Bug

DiaborMagics

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I somehow can't change my avatar. Every single time I click 'done', it doesn't work. Restarting browser/computer, doesn't work either...

So either this is a bug, or there's something obvious I'm missing. Neither the upload, nor the url method works. I upload something smaller than 100kb, which is specified, I place the crop the way I want it... but after clicking 'done', nothing happens.

Can anyone help? I feel like such a noob right now - but if it's a bug... I'm glad I found it I guess??

Thanks in advance,

Avatar changes are actually applied when clicking "done" without the need to click "Save Changes".

Sadly, I'm unable to recreate this issue DiaborMagics. Perhaps the size limit message is not appearing. Is the image smaller than 100kb? If so, perhaps you can try to click "remove photo" and try again. Also, you could try to upload the image to another website and use the "Import from a URL" feature. If the problem persists, please let us know.

  • 6 months later...

I am having the same problem except when I upload the image it doesn't even show up. It acts like it is uploading something, shows the name of the image under upload from file but nothing else happens. I click done and nothing has changed. Tried several times. Tried refreshing.

Also if I click crop it glitches and even when I press done it keeps saying I need to finish cropping but it won't let me crop. I'm on Win 7 64 bit running updated firefox.

Yeah a few members have been reporting this problem in chat lately. Perhaps another bug associated with the redesign, I'm sure it'll get ironed out eventually. Until then I suppose you're stuck with ghost status.

I just make sure mine fits BEFORE uploading so I don't have to use the crop feature. Never had a problem (watch now I said that when I do it next time it will bug out on me! lol)

It has been 6 months, half a year, since this was originally posted and the bug still persists! For shame!

Edit:

I am no longer sure that the problem I was experiencing is the same as this one but I'll explain how I fixed it anyway.

As you can see I was able to upload a profile picture but I had to desaturate it completely and squish it by half. It seems that by 100kB it doesn't mean 100 Kilo Bytes(1,000,000B), it means 100,000 Bytes which seem kinda pathetic idk maybe that's fine but it's definitely unclear as to what the file size limit is.

Perhaps I should add more emotes and antiquated phrases to show I'm SERIOUS and REALLY mean business?

Actually if you read the previous posts the issue was unrepeateable (aka not a bug, probably user error) that's why this thread didn't have any new posts on it for six months. However with the redesign, similar issues have been cropping up again.

You seem awfully eager to cast blame and shame people with very little cause :armscrossed:

Yeah, incredibly eager for someone who appears to have been a member for over five years. Plenty long enough to know how proactive the Nexus folk generally are.

Maybe someone left themselves logged-in on the family PC? :whistling:
