SickleYield
If you converted it to .obj and back, you've erased all the vertex groups. The mesh has to have vertex groups that are parented to bones of a skeleton to fit a body correctly. You can either learn to weight paint, or import it again as a nif, redo the edit, and LEAVE it as a nif after export to avoid doing that. From that point I can't help you, because I use Blender rather than Max.

Fortunately, there are some decent plugins available to import/export .nif files. I don't know how well they work with armor though. http://www.silgrad.com/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=2477 seems to have the most support, but I havn't been able to get havok to work properly on statics. 21603
Would it be possible to extract certain parts of a mesh and save them as new files using NifScope? Or would it require something like Blender.

Open several windows of the different meshes you want, and copy&paste the NiTris branches of the meshes you want. There are other steps however, which I can not explain because I don't know them. Check the wiki, I know there's documentation on this subject there.

You have been warned, stop spamming up the forum with multiple threads on the same subject, it's against the rules. Removed your fourth thread on this subject.
