Hexxagone
Or is it rare because of prejudice?
Oubliette
Depends on what you mean by common. There's an entire race of humans that are said to be part Aldmer part human decedents (Bretons) there's the the Gray Prince from Oblivion that had a drop of Breton blood in him as well as Orsimer but for the rest it's unknown. Children are a new addition to TES games in general, mostly all we know is that when the races interbreed the child takes on more of the physical appearance of the mother than the father. So there could be many more wandering around than we'd be able to tell at a glance.
SMB92
There were a few Orc-Human and Elf-Human relatioships on Oblivion no? I cant remember which ones they were now though, been 3 years since i stopped Oblivion Edit - The Gray prince was Vampire hybrid wasnt he?
Boombro
All kinds of romances can happened. The only reason why people of the same race are more likely to bang, it because they are the same race and share stuff so that may help. But other races can romance. There is even something that says in a book somewhere that all races of elf and human can bang by the arcane collage and have kids ( not a law.). Can't recall from where though. I have a guess. Elves may lean to other elves because of life span problems. It gotta be odd to change your lover diaper when you have no wrinkles yet. Example:In oblivion, there an orc that half breton, in a quest of the DB there is a nord who wants to do a dunmer that want him too, in another db quests an altmer has bosmer BF. In a side quest, what seems to be a group of female thieves who charm man have all races, expect argonian and orc female. For beast races, some did bang them. There is the book, written by a guy in morrowind that flirts with you no matter what sex or race. Male cats don't seem that popular though. They have barbed parts. Boombro
And long lifespans means less children. That because they are not hasty to breed and marry much older. They can have them early for the human parents sake, the human may also marry an old elf.

Moksha8088
I think the first known occurrence was that of the mortal Beren of the House of Bëor and Lúthien, daughter of the elfThingol, the King of Doriath and High King of the Sindar and his Queen Melian the Maia.
