Unlimited Companions should be priority

Great, so another Bethesda game without companions because of this bulls*** ...

Bethesda, Bethesda never changes.

What are you talking about, there are 12 of those. And they much better than older ones, they feel more alive.

And why are having a follower if you want the game to be hard anyways?

Ok so I think there are 2 gigantic reasons why Bethesda didn't do this, and why I think its a terrible idea. One, the AI for companions is awful. One companion gets in my way enough. I cant even begin to imagine 5. Also, with unlimited companions, all you have to do is walk into a building and laugh as your personal army demolishes everything...

Well of course, it'd be up to the player's discretion as to how many followers he'd actually recruit. And besides, its a single player game anyways, no ones gonna get harmed if one player likes to have a squad of dudes instead of one.

This. Just because you don't think having more then one companion is a good idea and don't want more then one at a time doesn't mean others will share that. I just want to simply have a human and Dogmeat. Or Dogmeat another another dog. There was a random guy I passed that offered to sell me a dog, it was still early and Dogmeat was my only companion at the time. I would have bought the dog had it been later in the game or had we been able to have more then one follower.

This gentleman (props, Jedi!) came out with a mod that allows you to get the follow...dialogue.

You can command the followers to go places, but my god, write those ref's down to keep them updated...the problem is, you can't order them to "follow" you.

And they dont count as "True" followers, so you can stack more than one. So me, I got two militiamen. I use their refid and type in the console "Setalert 1" so they have their weapons drawn. The question is...does -anyone- know or can find out the script command package that actually makes them follow you? As it is, they stay. They just need to activate the follower AI package to get them to start following you around.

Anyone got the tech skill to see how to force the Companion Follower package on them via console?

Thing is, you don't get XP for your companion's kills. You need a mod for that like in fallout 3.

Thats not a problem... you level up too fast in vanilla anyway, just building settlements made my character op... i mean i'm currently a playing a level 174 character. (no console commands)

The OP is spot on and not just for those who want to run around with a hoarde of followers. Walking into the game on the day it was released, I met this dog. There was no follow me dialogue that I particularly recall - he just followed me home so to speak and the idea that I would tell him to "go away" would seem unnecessary, cruel and completely out of character for a suvivalist trying to unite settlements across the land. But because I had the dog, I got no options when meeting Codsworth to assign him to serve and protect Sanctuary. He was my robot was he not? And, since I won't get any options when I finally meet Piper and whoever else is out there I have to dismiss the dog and have no followers in order to discover who is available and when. Where was the thinking here?

Pretty much this.

Only -one- follower is just...silly.

Did Beth not notice the -extreme- popularity of the multiple follower mods?
