Dahveed
Well, I was always expecting a certain percentage of bitter hardcore Fallout 1 and 2 fanboys to go give their obligatory "0" scores on Metacritic, in stark contrast to the obligatory "10" scores of the more official websites... but oh boy was I NOT expecting the user metascore to be below FIVE! Is the game really this bad? I was about 90% sure I was going to wait for a sale (along with mods and patches) to buy F4, but a part of me wanted it to kick ass so I could just throw caution (and money) to the win and buy it in the first week of release to start having fun. But boy am I glad I waited. Is the roleplaying aspect really that limited, or will mods be able to save it? I know that eventually mods will be able to fix everything to cater to pretty much my every whim, but it seems that the core roleplaying element of this series is borked in Fallout 4.... how bad is it? tnu
yeah when y ou've scrwed up the roleplaying aspect and put so many limitaitons on how the player can i nteract with NPCs (only four dialogue'se really?) than yeah it's borked
JohnGrimm
The biggest hurdle I see is going to be fixing the dialogue. Removing the player's voice isn't difficult. There's already a mod on the Nexus that does it. Next step is completely restructuring the dialogue system. Removal of the Mass Effect style dialogue wheel of fortune and replacing it with the old UI. That will probably require F4SE being complete and possibly the new GECK being released. Still after that you're left with a terrible base mechanic of only having four options without many dialogue options in general. It should be possible to add in new voiceless dialogue but that would be a big undertaking and you're still stuck with having silent dialogue. Boombro
Are you kidding, the game is good. If know the feel of beth game and loved fo3, this game is a must have. If you were okay with the wheel. Is the roleplaying aspect really that limited, or will mods be able to save it? I know that eventually mods will be able to fix everything to cater to pretty much my every whim, but it seems that the core roleplaying element of this series is borked in Fallout 4.... how bad is itLet face it, the back story and main quest offer almost no RP in terms of backstory/family, to be fair, no fallout game offer much in that. But if you forgot that and focused on RPing the development of your hero sole survival, you will be pleased. Voiced choices are on point. It has better quests than Skyrim, there are fetch and kill those riders quests, but that normal. But you can always say no to every quest there is, there is always a chance to get people to give you more caps, having better perks and stats will give more options. Followers are great, I have been doing everything with Codsworth and he is better than all Skyrim followers combined in terms of depth, when you talk to an npc and pick something he liked, he may also talk and not stand saying nothing like a lamp. He is in the level of modded custom voiced follower. Last night he said that was so happy to meet again and I almost cried from what he said. Crafting is not a girding nightmare of Skyrim. All crafting tables have storage that is shared all across the wasteland and there is option to store all junk. Houses that can be bought in cities are fully custom using the crafting system. And with the crafting System, you will explore more and more. Combat is harder, you will get ganked often and it a bad idea to not go without any healing items. I would say this game is a offers a great improvement over the fallout and Tes game. To be short and safe, I would say it a great game, but I would not play thinking is this the better RP game of all time. You have to accept the wheel and the voiced hero to have fun, and dame, I have been having a blast. Edited November 11, 2015 by Boombro

Roberto3371
I think too many people only remember what they wanted F03 And NV to be in their imagination and forgot what they were actually like and then superimpose that onto a standard of F4 + 200 epics points. It's really in many ways a great game which will of course only get better with mods. If you go in with a glass is half full attitude you will probably have a blast. Dahveed
Seems to be a case of a lot of extremes. People either seem to love it or hate it. Based on my own preferences, I'm usually relatively easy to please... and of course mods FTW, lol. Thanks for your input guys... I think I'll wait it out. It does seem to be a pretty typical Bethesda Bug Bonanza judging by reactions form the internets. Waiting for official and unofficial patches, mods, tweaks guides mods (and a steam sale) will be the best course of action for me. Besides, I just started New Vegas for the first time yesterday, so it's not like I"ll be bored :)

The list goes on. Bugthesda still doing there best! So yes GO GAMBLE IN NEW VEGAS!
