Lack of base weapons

I'm getting the feeling more and more and more that there's a serious lack of base weapons in fallout 4. There's officially two assault rifles in the whole game and general lack of long guns period even with all the modifications one can make. I even noticed that in the loading screen a makorov pistol was shown but it doesn't appear to actually be in the game. I feel like this is a pretty big step backwards from FNV and even fallout 3. I can't wait for the modders to get to work porting their weapons over and or making new ones.

Did explore all the map even? Maybe it on a fixed spawn somewhere hidden, or sold by one trader or one carried by an npc?

I find the barbarian outfit on a shelf in a building in baston somewhere, was this close to miss it.

For now, I'm looking for the crossbow, with only the E3 concept art as a clue.

The pistols mod into rifles and machineguns, and there are machine guns and submachineguns, but a lot of lore heavy weapons are gone. The 10mm SMG is now a 10mm with mods. Boston wasn't a military target so I could believe no AR or Chinese AR, but there is a base there so we should at least see a unique one.

As far as weapon COUNT though....This is on par with other releases and bigger when you consider the gun mods you can make. I was thinking about this earlier. I think we are just spoiled on what it was like to have guns from all expansions and our own mods in the game.

That said, I have no plasma weapons so far. Near The Institute that seems off. Remember Harkness's rifle from FO3? Zimmer had a plasma pistol, too.

There are 3 ballistic assault rifles. One you can make via a pipe gun. You can make a semi or full auto one. There's even a mod to fire .308. Then there's the assault rifle proper.

Then, there's the "combat rifle"

By my count, that's 3.

baston

Haha that's what "Boston" sounds like with a Boston accent
