Not much said about the map size?

I noticed in all the reviews almost nothing was mentioned about the map size!, the odd 'huge', 'massive' etc but thats entirely opinion...i thought Skyrim was barely big enough, some thought it was TOO big!???

Anyhow, i have not yet played the game so i dont want spoilers on map detail, but anyone care to comment on the size of the map compared to previous Fo3 / NV and Skyrim?

Sorta' cant believe its not been mentioned anywhere, this makes me nervous that the subject is being avoided.

The map from what I've explored isn't actually that big per say but jammed full of locations. After more than 16 hours of exploring ice probably only been through a third of the map or less. It doesn't take long to go from one place to the next but there's a lot of in between stuff.

I agree. I do like all the stuff, it makes the Wasetland feel more alive. That said, I can't wait until we get more map space (Via mods or DLC).

Are you suggesting that the map is not fully accessible yet?

I dont actually remember any mods that expanded the map in previous iterations, only added content. I've seen picture of the map on various sites, but there is no comparison to give me perspective.

For me the map size is one of the most important features, as it gives longevity and allows modders to fill where required, in NV, you always found yourself a minutes walk from one of the two main roads, which blew any survivalist mentality away!

As Boombro said, the map feels bigger than FO3 or even FONV, but almost half of it is sea so...

However, strangely, in some places you can go beyond the border. Why have a border at all? At some point during the MQ you'll have to go there and you can basically just walk beyond the border. No loading screen.

The sheer density of Boston makes up for any disagreements about the map size. Washington was hit head on by a nuke and was a ruin and bland. Where as Boston didnt feel the full force of one, so its great to see buildings still upright and how they would have looked in 1950. Boston still feels like a real city where as D.C just looked like a city in a game.

Starting in the corner was a little annoying, I ran into the "you cannot go there" message several times in the first day. Lame.

Haven't explored enough to get a feel for the size. I am a little annoyed that it rains and fogs all the time, but everything is dry and brown. Yes, I know that's their mood, it just makes no sense. Have it be dry if it's dry.

I like the rain and the fog. ESO mastered rain/thunder sounds.

Anyway, hope we have some mods for the pipboy map coming. I may talk to someone about that who does map art.
