Retextures that actually look like 200 yrs of erosion

How about an eventual texture and mesh replacement mod that makes things look like 200 yrs has actually passed. Vanilla looks like things maybe 50 years has passed.

There is no way a couch, for example, would still be completely upholstered and usable after 200 years of sitting out in the elements of a post-nuclear apocalypse. In that time a house would be almost unrecognizable and be overgrown with plants. A steel barrel would be a patch of red dust. An exposed car would be bits and pieces of rust chunks and dust. Things would not be bright and colorful. There would be no visible roads, they would be covered with soil and vegetation.

Of course, it would be easier to simply change the time in the plot from 200 years to 50......

I think it would be better to just remove those inexplicably shiny vehicles because they do stand out.

Remember that, due to gameplay related considerations, realism must be sacrificed and disbelief must be suspended in a retro-futuristic game like Fallout 4. In a realistic scenario, Codsworth would be inoperable (where did he get the power for his circuits and the fuel to operate his hover jet? Surely, that bottle next to his cardboard box would be empty by now and he was definitely active during all those years. Not to mention that in a realistic setting a hover jet based robot would be potentially lethal due to the hot exhaust gases), there would be very little residual radioactivity ("The rule for nuclear explosions is 7 times 7 times 7. After 7 hours, 90% of the radioactivity is gone. After 49 hours, 99%. After 2 weeks, 99.9%."), there would not be any remaining easily accessible unlooted containers, fission batteries and mini nukes would be inert or unreliable due to radioactive decay, and so on.

He is nuclear.

His power core is nuclear. His hover jet is not.

I don't think this is necessary and here is why: EVERYONE that brings this up as a sort of complaint to the Fallout games is missing two LARGE considerable facts about the lore of the Fallout World:

- The fact that civilization completely relied on nuclear technology (thus implying advancements in that tech area)

- The fact microchips and transistors were never invented

*Edit: transistors were invented and wildly used, microchips never were invented.

With complete focus on Nuclear Technology, civilization developed MANY forms of radiation resistant materials including paints, fibers and compounds to safely handle the vast amount of radiation available in normal life. For example, the shiny cars: well, that civilization developed radiation resistant paint, this is why you might see cars that are shiny in spite of being 200 years old and in spite of a nuclear blast. This is the only reasonable explanation because guess what causes car pain to fade in our current civilization timeline? RADIATION. Yep, the sun heat you feel? That's radiation, and thats exactly what causes things to break down. So the civilization in Fallout before the war had all these paints and materials developed to provide radiation shielding. Wood painted with these materials was able to survive that long.

Also, did you noticed there are NO ELECTRICAL OUTLETS in homes? TV not plugged in? Radios not plugged in? Cause they work with radiation. That civilization manage to develop wireless electrical conductivity using radioactive materials and radiation as a source of electricity, fuel, etc. Basically, certain household items would have infinite energy.

Just think about it for a second, if we had focused ALL of our might and science around nuclear technology, our world would have been extremely different... very Fallout-Pre War like if you ask me.
