Lee5Lee
That's great Lee5Lee! It's way more experience working on mods similar to this one than I have. How much harder is it going to be to also deal with lip-sync and voiced characters? Is that something you would be interesting in learning how to do? I'm all up for it! Imo, the hardest part is always getting sound lines.
syntheticValentine
I could learn how to make an animation rig and record it for Nick getting out of the bed in the morning, or reacting to your flirt options, etc. I'd just need the right software and Nick's model. GirlGamer55
I thought I'd add my two cents since I'm currently doing his quest. TBH some of the dialog is all ready in the game...someone said something about his old antiques line, and just a while ago I hacked a computer and heard him say his line "Is there any machine you can't charm?". I'm sure there's more dialog hidden around in his files...we just need to wait till the GECK comes. Now on the topic of SHOULD he be romanced. Yes, and not just because I like him. Everyone should be free to love anyone they want...I see nothing wrong with this, it's the same as same sex couples. Which interestingly enough is what my character and Nick will be...if you consider him human, which I do. He might look robotic but his brain is an exact copy of the human Nick Valentine. That's human in my book. Anyways...this isn't the first time that robots/android/synths have gotten together in the Fallout universe. Anyone remember Fisto from F:NV? Yeah it's not really the same...but you still can have sex with him. It's a form of relationship. I think Bethesda made a mistake by not letting you have a romance with Nick, he's the best character! Back on the dialog issue...there are programs out there if you feed it sound bites of a person talking, it will mimic their voice and let you say anything you want. Something to think about. dem0nbreather
I'll chime in to show some support here. Ideally, Bethesda themselves will create additional content for all of the followers, (I mainly say 'ideal' so that it will be voiced -- I'm spoiled by voiced characters nowadays), but honestly, I think the Nexus is where the more interesting stuff is going to come from, judging by the vanilla game. Anyway, computer love! Edit: Forgot to mention: SPOILER, cover your eyes! There is a robot/human wedding in the vanilla game. The writers obviously considered some level of robo-love in the making of the game. Edited February 9, 2016 by dem0nbreather
BetteCorvega
Checking in again! I'm done with my first pass at editing audio from the game to create new romance dialogue, and I'm ready to share it if anyone is interested in giving me some feedback!Although I'm not really planning any major changes at this point (I think for major changes you'd really have to give up on using the in game dialogue anyway and go for voice actors), this is still somewhat of a rough draft. There's still a few bits of dialogue I'm considering adding, and there's also some parts of the edited audio files that sound way too choppy for my liking that I am going to clean up. I'm not sure if it's still going to sound more choppy than would be acceptable, though, even after I do that. That's definitely something I want to hear feedback about. Also, while I am happy to make changes based on feedback, as long as we're just using audio from the game, keep in mind that our options may be limited. Just to warn everyone, these links do contain some spoilers for Nick's conversations and the ending of his personal quest (naturally)!! Here's the text versions! Right now I have a diagram that shows all the new dialogue options I have worked out to add to the current in game approval conversations (right now I am just planning to add stuff to conversations that already exist in game, rather than creating entirely new conversations.). I also have a doc where I am keeping a list of everything else I have so far (lover's embrace dialogue, greetings, etc). And here's some of the audio for you guys to listen to! I haven't uploaded everything I have just yet. For now, I've just edited together some of the vanilla in game dialogue plus some of the new dialogue options so anyone who is interested can hear how the new parts of those conversations would go in game (plus I made a combined file of some lines I thought would work for the "lover's embrace" dialogue for fun). I will put the rest of the dialog options up later too for everyone to hear, but probably just as separate files. Also, I am more than happy to provide everything I have so far to anyone who wants to work on this. I am also keeping a list of every file I used to make these, if anyone wants that. Awesome! Let me know what you think of what I have so far on the sound lines, and let me know what you would need from me to get this going! I'm happy to help on the non audio/writing side of things too, even though my knowledge at the moment is somewhat limited. I could learn how to make an animation rig and record it for Nick getting out of the bed in the morning, or reacting to your flirt options, etc. I'd just need the right software and Nick's model. That's really great if you are still up for doing that!! Back on the dialog issue...there are programs out there if you feed it sound bites of a person talking, it will mimic their voice and let you say anything you want. Something to think about. Sadly, I am pretty sure I already have access to all the dialogue in the game. I have uncompressed the whole audio archive and I have what I believe to be a complete list of what's in all the files, both used and unused, that came with the game. I haven't really found any romantic sounding dialogue beyond some of the "flirty" sounding lines that have already been mentioned (well, other than an amusing line about how Nick used to "go with a girl from Malden, and no she wasn't a toaster" which as far as I know does not appear to have been used in the game!). I've never used any of those programs you mentioned that mimic voices though, I will check that out and see if it can help! Sadly I'm illiterate in modding and such, but damn I'm impressed and hope that you get any additional support you need from folks more competent than me! Also, I'm so glad to see that other people want to be able to romance the toaster. I wasn't sure if I was alone in the feelings or not. I love you Bethesda, but at the same time I curse you! GirlGamer55
Well done on the dialog...some of it is a little choppy but not horrible. I've heard much MUCH worse.
