Settlements - A Complete farce

Thank you Wolfmod from the bottom of my Heart. Thank you! I haven't been able to find anything on the internet concerning the inherently completely broken status of the crafting system (not even a remark) and even on this forum nobody else seem bothered by it. I. Am. Rigid. This is the most interesting new aspect in this game for me and yet it nothing but a source of endless frustration at this point. Nothing works, like you stated. Auto clipping and invisible walls makes doing anything IMPOSSIBLE. I agree completely on all points, but the most aggrivating aspect for me, is the fact you can't barricade pre-existing Buildings or even place a gorram door. Who the hell decided that was the way to go? I want to know. For the sake of immersion, given the primary objective of the main character, a matter of some urgency one would expect. Why would you ever build a horrible shack from scratch when you could just board up a few windows and make a makeshift door plus some makeshift traps in one out of a million perfectly adequate pre-existing structures? That kind of complete lack of fundamental logic and reason is absurd and game breaking for me. It needs to be fixed. Why its not everone's top priority for a mod I just don't understand. Instead people are focusing on meshes.... Bah!

The biggest issues I think are the uneven terrain, objects that cannot be selected or moved, Snap always on, and no clipping allowed. Trying to make a wall around the perimeter without the ability to clip parts through other parts makes it an exercise in frustration compounded by the snap function when you are trying to line one up behind or infront of but on the ground instead of floating. The uneven terrain causes anything wider than a barrel to be floating with one corner on the ground. Then all the junk lying around including what you cannot target is annoying, why not have a choice when you are at the crafting table to clean the property up? One button all cleaned of random junk.

Another issue that bugs me is having to micromanage a bunch of settlers, Not only do I have to make everything for the ungrateful turds but I also have to tell them what to do and even after half the time they are not doing it. Sorry but I didn't buy FO4 to play an RTS, I don't want to have to micromanage a bunch of idiot NPC's and worse cannot even tell if they are assigned a job or not, not only because they have nothing saying they are assigned but they tend to just wander regardless.

As far as the buildings being shacks I don't think this system was originally meant to be a player home but as a settlement system for the Minuteman questline. I have figured out that I don't want to use any of them as a home, for one you don't get a decorated home, you get furniture and stuff on the walls. No random clutter filling a shelf, no food on a table, no nothing of any visual interest. It's empty and boring and I definitely do not want to try and fill shelves up with Bethesda horrid physics implementation. So I will drop a few beds on the ground then water and food and surround the location with turrets and call it a day. Oh and a generator and radio beacon to get the quest to roll to the next stage. Spending the time to add buildings that's fully furnished seams pointless, the idiot NPC's are just as happy with a bedroll in the brush you cannot remove as long as they have food and water too.

Lol looks like he put a lot of effort into that, mine is a bit more "realistic" for the amount of settlers, he must/might of used that cheat engine hack to get more, idk. I gotta lot of turrets around mine, they take up a bit of the size limit compared to building parts.

@Boombro - I have no idea yet, been working a lot lately so i havent had much time to fiddle around with it. I dont expect to find anything definitive though.
