Achinon
Hi there! So, before the NMM for FO4 i was installing the mods manually and everything worked...But then the NMM support for FO4 came and i decided to install it. And pretty much that'sthe problem. After installing it, the game just won't start. Crashes after like 2 secs of thegame's intro movie. Never had any issues with it before (The game). Things I've tried:- Uninstalled all mods I had installed before.- Verified game cache. Like 6 times.- Removed the game and redownloaded it again. It will not boot even though it's purely fresh out of Steam.- Uninstalled NMM- Running the game in window mode; border/borderless My rig (If this gives any help):Intel i5 4670k 3.40GHzGTX 780Ti16GB RAMRunning on Windows 10 Pro Edited November 19, 2015 by Achinon
Achinon
Got it working. Deleted the entire "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Fallout4" folder so it would get generated once again by itself. andrex145
I tried deleting the Falloout4 folder under Local and it still didn't work. How do I delete the entire thing like you said? I tried uninstalling NMM then deleting the Fallout4 folder under Local, and when I ran the game, it still crashed. I checked and it restored the folder but still wouldn't let me boot up the game. Then I decided to undo the changes NMM made me make to the .ini files and then deleted the Fallout4 folder under Local, and I had the same result. Only this time instead of five items in the folder, there are two. I've tried every option I can think of, but you've seemed to have figured it out. Please help? warrengregulatin
I'm having a similar problem. The game ran like a charm yesterday, and I had been using NMM along with about 5 or 6 mods the whole time I played it yesterday without issue Today, I uninstalled the classic dialog menu mod before booting up the game for the first time. When I launch the game, it crashes within 5 seconds. I tried uninstalling NMM along with all the mods, restoring the ini files to their original state, running the game in windowed bordered/borderless, and both downgrading and upgrading my graphics drivers, but with no luck. EDIT: More info:I read on Reddit that save files can corrupt, causing the game to crash. Tried deleting my saves, no change. Also, tried OP's fix (moving/deleting ini files so new ones would generate), no change My rig:Windows 7Intel 4690k970 GPUDirect X 11 Edited November 20, 2015 by warrengregulatin
andrex145
I got it working, but I undid the changes to my .ini files, and deleted the fallout4 folder under local, then uninstalled NMM, uninstalled FO4, re-installed, and now it's working
SooperWood
All this uninstall/reinstall shouldn't always be necessary:1. start by uninstalling all mods and manually delete all left over files (like .esp files and the'texture','mesh' etc. folders) in (...)/Fallout 4/Data. 2. delete the .ini files under (...)/Documents/my games/Fallout4/ and all files under C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Fallout4 3. move Savefiles and or delete them from the original folder4. validate game files5. Start the launcher and make sur it automatically detects you settings.A normal uninstall reinstall mostly fixes nothing as the files causing problems are left alone as they are edited/added and will still be active after the new install. If something is corrupt and causes a CTD It's much more likely to be one of those lose files rather than an actual game file that cannot be repaired by verifying the game cache.
