roofiodude
The more Fallout 4 I play, the more convinced I am that Bethesda this time really shot the bird and tried to get this game done with the least possible effort. I mean come on, they recycled even the G.O.A.T. test from Fallout 3 for f*#@s sake :/ wether it is the missing pc optimization, the terrible UI, the halfassed crafting content, the copypasted dog from cod ghosts, dumped down dialog system or game mechanics, the age old game engine, the godawful main plot and poor lip sync or the fact that instead of implementing settlements with npc`s and quests, its now up to the player to create those settlements (hey how innovative) and fill the wasteland with lifeI mean, I really love this franchise and I would love to have fun with this game, especially since I paid 55 bucks for it, but whenever I start it I stop playing after an hour or one and a half and think "hmpf, lets watch some youtube videos"This is really a bad joke, when you think about fact that Bethesda already sold about 12 mio copies and made 750mio bucks. In my opinion Bethesda should pay all modders a basic wage for fixing this glitchy and unpolished mess, Although I have little hope that even the modding scene present on this and other sites will not be able to turn this into something fun. How am I supposed to not become completely cynical and blindly rant about this like blabla evil publisher blabla AAA turd? Guys if you have fun with the game, great, I don`t want to piss you off, but this is.. I don`t know...maybe I should stop playing games. CardinalFunky
Try playing vanilla Skyrim and find the differences. Problem is most of us are overly spoiled playing modded Oblivion, FO 3, NV and Skyrim each with 300+ mods carefully selected to out exact personal tastesI agree. I play a wide variety of games, not just franchise after franchise, like Fallout; so I am well adaptable to any change within a game. The dialog system isn't bad. Its like Mass Effect's dialog system, and that is fine by me. Furthermore, I haven't experienced many bugs, glitches, or really many of anything within the game. I play Fallout 4 for a bit, take a break, get back on it and complete whatever I was doing, chill and type on my blog, and play it some more. I believe many people just assume something will be put in the game, and get disappointed really fast when they notice something changed. The game is still a Fallout game, and I also enjoy the story within the game.
IndicentWolf
I totally agree that Bethesda didn't really meet everyone's expectation. Still boils down to everyone's opinion. I myself still love playin' FO4 so much. Few bugs but not really game breaking. I played Skyrim and FO3 as well. Played Witcher 3 as well and is way too beautiful in terms of graphics. FO4 I think is still a game I can play for hundreds of hours. I believe the game was just too hype that we are expecting something, we compare it and it didn't surpass that something and now everybody is calling it a bad game. roofiodude
@IndicentWolfIt`s not the problem that FO4 did not surpass FO3. FO3 is in my opinion quite superior to FO4in many areas, and I played FO3 first in vanilla on XBOX360.Other than FO4 it has nteresting characters, an actual dialogue system and decent dialogue writing, a main story you can make "your own", an in depth rpg system etc. And I don`t mind that much Bethesda used this aging engine, although it is a bit awkward for a big publisher to use a 13 year old engine for a AAA. My main problem is this: Fallout is clearly an RPG franchise, although many fans were already back then with FO3 disappointed, I could enjoy the genre mix. FO3 was an RPG with shootermechanis attached. But FO4 is a Shooter with RPG mechanics attached. And like any other shooter it bores me to death. It`s just too streamlined, too casualized for my taste. Also the copypasted dog from COD Ghosts is annoying as f***. Edited November 26, 2015 by roofiodude
Grasmann
Well, the dog just looks realistic now.Would you be happier if it's another breed? Personally I'm glad you can actually aim and shoot people now.In earlier games I hated how the weapons didn't hit shiet. You basically had to storm the enemies so you can hit them within a 5m radius.I always used mods that heavily increased the accuracy of everything. Now I can give headshots and it's fun.Gunplay was improved a lot in Fallout 4. Maybe they should've created some more cities and towns instead of a huge number of settlements.I'm kinda annoyed with that as well.I know they expect me to care for the settlements and to invest time to build them and in theory I like that idea. But I'm playing Fallout not Minecraft.Building and maintaining 5 settlements would be ok.But the amount of settlements is completely exaggerated. As for the dialog system. There are mods already that fix them pretty good.Of course the credit for that doesn't belong to bethesda. But at least you can mod that aspect of the game.Anyways, it shouldn't be the big problem anymore.Regarding the options in the dialogs.I haven't really had big problems with it.In fact sometimes in New Vegas I was annoyed by the wall of text in the dialogs. The engine is old, yes, but the constantly updated it.We don't really know how many components were completely rewritten since the first version. The graphics components for sure.In the same way you could complain that Unreal Engine 4 is a new version of a 17 year old engine. In the end I'm a little disappointed with the game as well, but I still like it and I invested a lot of time playing it already. If I had to play Fallout 3, New Vegas or Skyrim without all the great mods you can use today I probably would be just as disappointed with them. Boombro
Can you at least wait the patch? And empty? Empty? Really? What? You have no idea what kind of stuff I have found out there. There is more things to find than Skyrim. And everyone wanted the building system. Not excuse to have not have more towns sure. But it your fault for not knowing that when you use the work bench, it becomes a town. Load an older save. And you have little hope for modders to make this game even better? Really? You really looking down on them dude. And if you really hate it, don't play it. Why force yourself?
roofiodude
@Boombro Look if you`re having fun with the game, great. I just felt for a time isolated being the only one not enjoying it while the whole gaming world is cheering and laughing and gaming, at least this was my initial perception. For me the game is too streamlined, too much designed out of the RPG corner, the story, the dialogues, the casualized rpg mechanics, you can`t patch that. And it really feels like I`m working through a predetermined path rather than having the illusion making this my own little story, which an RPG is about for me at last and not how many gun mods you can attach to your weapons. But the numbers give Beth right, already 15mio sold copies I`ve read somewhere, so I guess I`m doing this here just to digest my mispurchase. And again, if you enjoy the game and the focus on shooter and sandbox, so what? Then you made the right purchase, have fun dude. What bothers you my opinion? And I`m not looking down on the people that make all this mods with an amount of work I can hardly imagine. If you would have read my OP more carefully: " ... =>even<= the modding scene ... " And I do not hate it, that would be away too much energy invested lol, also dark side(cookies) It`s just that I cannot enjoy it. Why do I want to enjoy it? Because it`s freakin Fallout and I paid 55 bucks for it.But for now I`ve understood why I stopped playing and since I encountered other gamers that have the same issues with FO4, like Jesse Cox and others, I guess I can make my peace with this Edited November 26, 2015 by roofiodude
