What would be the easiest class to play?

Hello, I am new to this game and I was wondering which class would be the easiest to play, a warrior with restoration or a pure mage? I have the pc version so I can download mods if it makes a change at all.

Thanks for your answers!

Warroir, definitely. Bethesda has a way of being prejudice against all non-combat characters and all evil characters. Simply put, if your character isn't the classic paladin, Bethesda doesn't like you.

Just for the record, paladins do have some restoration skills.

Mages will work but only later in the game. You need fighting skills to begin with.

But of course you can become Archmage without a single point in any magic skill. This is what role play means??????

Paladins don't exist as a pre-made class in the game.

As to the topic on hand, may I suggest a character strong in archery (Marksman)? It's a stealth skill, like Sneak, so you'll have lots of fun with the damage bonus that comes along with a stealth attack, and unlike the melee skills, the skill perks of a ranged attack are automatically rolled with your standard attack.

What I mean is, while a Master swordsman has to actively commit to a slower forward-push attack in order to take a chance at paralyzing a target, a Master archer only has to do what he's been doing all along in order to take a chance at paralyzing: shoot the danged arrow off the bow.

I see, I will roll a warrior then! If restoration is no good for warrior should I take alchemy as a major skill? I heard that you can sneak in plate as effectively as in light armor as long as you don't wear boots is it true?

I find that a restoration strong (and i mean strong) mage is godmode

be a breton w/ apprentice

first d/l complete enchanter

second enchant 4 items with 15 intel ea

third creat a spell fort magicka 100/120 sec fort willpower 100/15sec

fourth same as above

fifth same as above (trick is name the spells "Fort magicka I" the next one "fort magicka II" ect.)

Fort willpower 100/120 sec

fort intel 100/120 sec fort willpower 100/10 sec

ect

its called stacking

unlimited magicka

NUKE NUKE NUKE

Of course a "fighter" type with this setup is just as worthwhile i.e. a paladin

if your the Armorer type and just hack and slash dont worry bout it

ALSO weakness to elements

first spell target weakness to fire 100%/30 sec

same same /// touch fire dmg 25dmg/ 4/5 sec

holy smokin bbq batman!

stacking

The downside is keeping your magicka buffs up for 2 minutes

if it takes 1 min to cast all your fort magicka buffs your going to have a hard time getting "pleasure" from the game

I don't recommend using exploits in your first game, you could as well use the console to give yourself the amount of magicka/health/whatever you want - won't have much fun with it on the long run.

And I have to agree Rhydderch Hael, I know from experience that a stealthy marksman is far more powerful than any melee warrior, the sneak attack is simply uber. The disadvantage is you can't raid a dungeon in 3 minutes.

If you get your Sneak skill past 50, you sneak in any kind of armor without penalty.

Alchemy, though a 'magical' discipline, is completely unaffacted by the traditional magic attributes of Intelligence and Willpower, so a warrior can become as effective an alchemist as a robe-wearing mage nerd. But if you choose Alchemy as a Major Skill, your character will level-up when you boil off the Odiil's carrot crops, with skill bonuses in the field of Intelligence (the one thing your warrior will not need!).

This is what the manual says:

A Journeyman receives no penalty to his chance of detection while Sneaking for the weight of his boots
