Miriandandes
So in short, I made a simple file to relpace the main menu theme with the theme from the first Terminator movie (made 31 years ago). But it was removed for copyright problems. This does not make any sense. There's plenty of things that are ripped straight from copyrighted material not only in FO4, but in many other games as well.So why would a bit of music (made 31 years ago) be removed, but all this other stuff be perfectly fine?Where is the line of what I can actually use, and why is the Terminator theme (made 31 years ago) on the wrong side of it? Here's a video to see how well it works:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hd49FVtaR4
ShinraStrife
If you didn't make it yourself, didn't get it from royalty free sources, or didn't get permission to use it, then don't use it. There are a lot of topics being made about this same exact issue when the solution is simple. I'm not chiming in to debate whether the mods should have been taken down, I'm just saying it probably will be taken down if you use any materials that aren't your own or that you don't have legal rights to use. It's called fair use. I aint making money, I aint claiming I own s#*!, therefore it should be allowed.
Oubliette
You seem to be mistaken about what copyrights are. Please see the link in my sig for further details. edt- you can argue all you like, be as belligerent about it as you like. This changes nothing about the term which is legal, well defined and one that the Nexus stands by. If you post anything that violates copyrights it will be taken down. And if you continuously do so as some misguided form of protest you will endanger your account here and potentially risk attention from the rights holders themselves. Miriandandes
You seem to be mistaken about what copyrights are. Please see the link in my sig for further details. No, I'm well aware it's a meaningful invention that has long since perverted its original use and is now used almost solely for evil.Seriously, it's such an old, well-known theme that no one in their right mind and power would take offense to using in such an innocent way. DoctorKaizeld
Theft is still theft. If you stole a candy bar and gave it away for free that doesn't change the fact you stole the candy bar. It is still illegal and it is still stealing and the Nexus staff will not tolerate it. and yes the owners of the Terminator franchise would have a problem with it. you arent the first person to try and upload the Terminator theme song. Have you personally been talked to by them? Have they even once sent an email going "hey were a bunch of bored suits and the golf course is closed so can you f*#@ off with using this or were gonna sue you into oblivion, k?" ? MotoSxorpio
It is my understanding that if the original score is remixed or sampled and the full score is not used, in most cases it is allowable, except if Vanilla Ice uses Under Pressure for a remix. :D And this is no way to speak to another user trying to help you out: And are you sure they would? Have you personally been talked to by them? Have they even once sent an email going "hey were a bunch of bored suits and the golf course is closed so can you f*** off with using this or were gonna sue you into oblivion, k?" ?Did YOU call them? Did YOU ask them personally? :armscrossed: Edited November 25, 2015 by MotoSxorpio

It is pretty much the same thing. Even if he isn't making money of of it, even if the creator of the copyrighted content made no money off of it, he doesn't have the right to use it. Copyright laws protect all kinds of works, not just profitable ones.
