DoctorKaizeld
It is my understanding that if the original score is remixed or sampled and the full score is not used, in most cases it is allowable, wrong and i quote from the US Copyright website:"How much do I have to change in order to claim copyright in someone else's work? Only the owner of copyright in a work has the right to prepare, or to authorize someone else to create, a new version of that work. Accordingly, you cannot claim copyright to another's work, no matter how much you change it, unless you have the owner's consent. See Circular 14, Copyright Registration for Derivative Works." in other words you still have to ask unless you are making a parody of it. Miriandandes
It is my understanding that if the original score is remixed or sampled and the full score is not used, in most cases it is allowable, except if Vanilla Ice uses Under Pressure for a remix. :D And this is no way to speak to another user trying to help you out: And are you sure they would? Have you personally been talked to by them? Have they even once sent an email going "hey were a bunch of bored suits and the golf course is closed so can you f*** off with using this or were gonna sue you into oblivion, k?" ? The full score is not used and I got it from a youtube video that is just a dude and not the original creator nor the studio that owns the franchise. And the video is 7 years old, and not muted. So if youtube doesn't have a problem, why would Nexus? Said video has 8 million views, 7 years old, and is not taken down or muted on the most popular, most copyright-trolled website in the history of mankind. If that's not an indication that something is fine to use for entertainment and not profit I don't know what is. And you're right, I should have been far more scathing and aggressive, because anyone who uses that heinously incorrect comparison is someone who is automatically on my list of "I don't like these people". No. But being scathing and aggressive can get you a firm boot to the proverbial rear, and I was only warning that this a public viewed forum and as such profanity and flame baiting is frowned upon. It's your account. I hope you find the answer you want.

bben46
The question is have YOU talked to them. YOU are the one that wants to use their intellectual property without their permission. It is up to YOU, not anyone else to secure that permission to use what they created. If you can get permission we will gladly allow it. Unfortunately getting permission for using any copyrighted material from a Hollywood corporation is next to impossible because they are ruled by rabid lawyers who make their living suing people who don't understand copyright law. Actually they sue very few people, mostly they send out take down notices threatening to sue if you don't instantly remove the content. I am sure many of the actual creators would not have a problem, but they sold or gave their rights to the big corporations. And along with those rights, went the right to give permission for anyone else to use their creation. And you're right, I should have been far more scathing and aggressive, because anyone who uses that heinously incorrect comparison is someone who is automatically on my list of "I don't like these people".if you want to be banned go ahead i couldnt care less. This site doesn't fall under U.S. jurisdiction.i know but we're talking about a US owned copyright and Europes copyright isnt all that much different on this matter. also we're talking about a US song and correct me if im wrong but most countries in Europe recognize US copyright. MotoSxorpio
"...in part..." maybe. TPIP and a few other laws are still pending for "us" all to come to agreement. As far as the rules here, you should look to Bben, since he's staff. ;) Good luck.
DoctorKaizeld
And if I can spin it as a parody, I would be covered under fair use, and I can freely upload it without it being taken down, yes?yes... sorta... though i dont see how. i mean Weird Al for example does it by changing the words to be funny. this one though doesnt have lyrics to change so i dont see how unless you have it made with rubber ducks or something. also copyright claims can still be called in many cases because parody falls into a grey area.
