Imperial Legionnaire

Greetings and welcome. I have just embarked upon a medium-large sized mod that will allow the player to join the Imperial Legion. It will expand upon the original faction, with new ranks. There will be new NPC's and possibly encampments etc. This mod will create a questline in the genre of the Fighter's or Mage's Guild.

I have judged the difficulty of this mod and feel that my talents are adequate enough to cover a large portion of the material needed; however, I am only human and will need help. So I ask you, modding community, for your feedback, suggestions, requests, help, and most of all support. Thank you all and good day.

Now THIS is the sort of approach I'd like to see more often!

Have you played or read through the IL quests in Morrowind?

(Quick summary: Noble deeds, law and order, look after our own/maintain our honor)

As Abramul says, the Morrowind quests are worth checking if you haven't already.

Nice to see someone taking a mature attitude towards a mod project for once. ;) I hope you get the help you need to do this. I know a lot of people would like to see the IL brought to Oblivion, including myself. Good luck!

Why? Why continue Bethesda's prejudice against evil? Why fight evil? I want to be evil. Why not make a mod where you fight the legion instead of fighting for them?

Because mods are not made for you ninja, they are made for everyone, and bethesda already made heaps of evil stuff.

SPOILERS

On topic: The mod sounds good, if you can pull it off. I recomend writing down the quests and everything before you get stuck in, because there may very well be conflict with other quests. For instance, the Dark Brotherhood eliminates one of the Imperial Captians, so the quests can't involve him. The Thieves guild relocates Hironimous (sp?) Lex. There is a quest to get rid of Itias Hayne (sp?) aswell. So, just be sure to check other questline conflicts.

Really? I must have lost is somewhere when I was doing a fighters guild quest line to get rid of an unlawful group of usurpers, a mages guild quest line to uproot a bunch of evil necromancers, a main quest line to stop an invasion from the evil daedra of Oblivion, and several misc. quests where I do things such as help some people purge their settlement of goblins, help a woman get rid of a daedric staff, help another woman retrieve her mother's orb from a haunted ship, etc.

You must have missed they 20 or so quests to kill people for the dark bortherhood. The 20 or so quests stealing things from people. Then theres also the misc quests that give you nfamy, like hleping a crazy murder 3 inoccent people. And the Vile Lair, that gives you a personal assassin that you order to kill people. In the end there is about 1 point of infamy for every 2 points of fame.

You've just proven my point. There's twice as much fame points to score which implies there are twice as much 'good' quests as 'evil' quests.

As for the thieves guild, stealing isn't inherently 'evil' what about that one quest where you steal the tax money that was collected from the poor of the waterfront. It's definitely unlawful, but you call that evil? Protecting the poor? I don't. Then there is also all of the Grey Fox's personal quests he has you do which all lead up the the big heist to steal an Elder Scroll. Why? So he can be rid of Nocturnal's curse and live out the rest of his days peacefully with his with who hasn't seen him for ten years. Is that evil? No. In fact, most of the thieves guild quests aren't evil despite being unlawful. There isn't only white and black, good and evil. There are also shades of grey: Chaotic good: willing to do anything, even break the law, if it's for the morally right cause. Lawful evil: follows the laws to the letter, but uses them to further his own personal goals. I think that is what the thieves guild is: chaotic good. They are like Robin Hood.

Glarthir's quest is just that, a quest, one. The rest are all good. You can even plead to being good with Glarthir's quest: "I just wanted the money. Who cares if he thinks they are spying on him. I had no idea he would react like that. If I had known he would have kill them, I wouldn't have said they were spying on him." Really, he doesn't give you any warning that he's going to kill them.

The only thing in Oblivion that actually is evil would be the Dark Brotherhood quest line. All else is good or borderline.
