Was curious before I tried, I'm running

Windows 10 (Home, build 10240)

Dual Core AMD Opteron™ Processor 1218 (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz (I know I should upgrade this)

4GB RAM

DirectX 11.2

AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series

Approx Total Memory 2807MB

Dell E178FP Monitor

got the information off dxdiag

That's an ageing system, but is still sufficient to play Skyrim (which is, after all, a 4+ year old game itself.) However, I would leave most settings on medium. As notmyhome pointed out, a few texture mods are okay. Some of them actually will help to improve performance (optimizing!) However, stay away from anything even remotely close to 4k.

I'm a bit confused by the "Approx Total Memory 2807MB" line. Does that refer to your remaining free space on your HD? Your GPU's memory buffer? Or something else?

EDIT: Also, if you want a better read-out of your system (and its abilities) I recommend CPU-Z.

Should be able to handle some - A SELECTED FEW! - HD mods just fine. You'll want to avoid mods that add many new NPCs, as that would fry your CPU.

Edit: Many new NPCs at once in crowded places, I meant.

Pah! My laptop has a 4th gen i3 and 8GB of RAM with integrated graphics. I run anywhere between 35 and 75 mods, INCLUDING Skyrim 2K! What really upsets me is that people think that weak computers can't run Skyrim at decent settings. I have an old Acer AO that can run Skyrim at Medium.

That refers to total GFX memory. If you run DXDIAG it tttells you exactly what you have.

Your CPU has decent benchmark scoring, actually on the same level as mine. Without any HD mods you should be able to run Skyrim on Ultra at about 20-25FPS. I advise lowering the resolution if you want to do that. If not, try medium or medium high. 1280x1024 is a 16:10 aspect ratio. Use google and find some lower resolutions and add them into your GFX "custom resolutions" settings. I'm an AMD person, and if my laptop wasn't Intel I'd be a lot happier. Hope that helps.

I'd invest in some more RAM.
