nemocdt
Sup mod famz, i bought f4 for ps4 so i could do a vanilla play through before the g.e.c.k drops and we all go bat ass crazy for the next probably 3-4 years. i'm not gonna even try to validate my opinion with some self righteous codswobble about my fallout blackbeltness or blind bethy loyalty. first the bad: Fallout 4 sucks....admit it. it's a cluttered up small domain of nothing but clutter on clutter, Cool trees and rocks right! its blinkin skyrim on meth and not in a good way. the pc animations are straight out of 2005, no pc idles, no attempt an an hdt (ish) system, and companion a.i is infuriatingly retarded (still) and the crafting / building system is a poor attempt at trying to hook console users into thinking their modding player homes and such when really its a godmode/cheat cover-up. i straight up think it's a pretty pathetic effort to deliver this for arguably the most anticipated release ever.... could go on......... but there's no point right! enough about the bad!The good: Thanks to the boys and girls at bethy for allowing us the opportunity to reverse engineer the next disaster effort in the series,A clean slate, We meet again comrades, p.s constructive banter is welcomed and appreciated, butthurt bethy fanboys don't bother replying i straight don't care. someuniqueusername
I Play the PC Version... and i got some things that are anoying.... 1. Liberty Prime: WTF? A giant Robot throwing Nukes he carry in a backpack? thats lame... they better should used a kind of robot like a battlemech or something.2. more perks and skills !!!!!!!!!!!!3. Powerarmors are too common. if u find one it should be a highlight and not "oh another one... take it to the others...."4. enemy: its sad to fight only against gunfodder Raiders or damn green tanks called supermutants well there are gunners wich are worthly enemy, and wild ghouls but i miss a diversity here...5. 4 Factions. RR MM INST and BOS ...why i cant make freinds with raiders, or gunners? In New Vegas that part was much much better....6. 100 times save the same damn village from raiders on the other side on the map? REALY? In FO4 everything but Storymissions feels so pointless... well compared to NV the graphics are a bit better but... everything else exept of the Powerarmor thing is worse by far ..i just dont get the "fallout" feeling... its more like a Bioshock Game than Fallout :( I mean its not bad, and if i never played FO games before its a really good game, but yeah i played FO and i dont get warm with this one :(
BadReplicant
I agree with OP and believe most people saying otherwise haven't really played it enough. I really didn't want to dislike this game at first and even started a thread grasping at straws trying to say things I liked about the game. It just has no comparison to previous Bethesda titles and it's unfortunate. In fact, I would like this game a lot more if it was the Skyrim or Fallout 3 clone a lot of people say it is. Bethesda said before that they might have bit off more than they could chew (with crafting settlement additions and mc voice) which is why I think this game feels so lackluster. It could have easily been in development 2 more years. Which begs the question: Would you rather it stayed in production 2 years or release now for modders to save it? I personally wish they'd skipped settlements and voicing all together and put out a proper release. I was very excited for this game with realistic expectations. It'll always be one of the most disappointing releases for me. Almost felt like when I played FFXIII for the first time desperately trying to enjoy it. TheOriginalEvilD
I'm just sick of saving the same settlement from raiders when I have the entire thing fenced with laser/missile turrets. How exactly are they badgering my settlers when they can't get within 100 yards of the place without getting turned to ash?
Talwyn224
@ OP FO4 falls far from perfection but its not a pile of steaming dung by any stretch of the imagination. Sure its got quite a few problems such as the initial story hook [rescue your son] gets drowned out by all of the factions/NPC's, that power armour is just scattered about the wasteland and that any idiot can jump in and use it, that Bethesda have decided to ignore or even retcon parts of Fallout lore so they can introduce new "cool" stuff which we've never seen before, the real lack of decent side quests when compared to FO:NV and the sheer annoyance factor of settlements & settlers that can't defend themselves despite the fact they're all armed with mini guns and the best combat armour plus 20 gun turrets unless you stand there to "help them"... that the Vaults are pathetically small [still], that Bethesda has ignored what Obsidian did with the amount of guns available you can get in New Vegas, that they recycled about half of Diamond City Radio's playlist from FO3 when they had so much more to choose from...etc etc etc But... I'm still enjoying playing it. I've put in about 150 or so hours, just recently finished the main story line and will probably start a new play through soon so I can explore the other endings. I agree the lack of factions in the game is a bit of a let down and I really wanted the map to be bigger, with settlements more spaced out and further away from hostile areas. Also to be honest I think the graphics are pretty lame when compared with the amazing quality you see in Elder Scrolls Online - that's just gorgeous work in vanilla. It feels as though that FO4 has been released in beta mode and it is a deliberate move on behalf of Bethesda to hand it over to the modding community to fix the game. Some things they did well though are the customisation of weapons and armour, I think the crafting is good but needs a lot more work. I liked a lot of the interactions with the NPC's - some of their story and how they behaved was really fun especially Deacon & Codsworth, best 2 companions in the game IMO. I liked the Institute and what it represented and I liked the difficult choice you are faced with - destroy it or allow it to dominate the future. There were some great little stories scattered in terminals, notes etc across the wasteland which were worth looking into. The settlement/base construction was mostly fun but again, needed more work. In summary I am glad there is another Fallout game even though its not as good as I'd like it to be. Its far from perfect but then again, what is? oldspice2625
The one thing that I am bummed about is how the weapon customization basically is an excuse for having less weapons in the game. FO:NV felt more lively and energetic. I mean, it's been 200 years after the war... you're telling me people can't rebuild after that? It's not like the dark ages after the fall of Rome... people have plasma guns and power armor with jetpacks and industrial water purifiers... America went from being a hellhole swamp infested with Malaria to the most powerful nation on the earth in that same time, AND some vaults were equipped with a GECK. The West Coast has some amazing settlements and building up compared to what Beth came up with. I like the companion system so far, even though the options are shallow for dialogue, the story of Cait is really nice so far, but I might like FO:NV's system more. I feel like the companions like Veronica, Boone, Arcade Gannon, hell, even Rex were all worth hearing, and I WANTED to hear about their adventures and lives. I really cared about the companions in FO;NV and your decisions on how you ended their quests determined what their ending slide was, what happened to them, so you were invested in their future. I hope that's like Fallout 4, unless they scrapped that as well, which will be utter s#*! if they did.
DimosZargarda
Bought the game about a month ago, been playing it every day since, still am. Most new games out there are completed withing 2-3 days, here you have weeks or months of gameplay, you get your moneys worth. So dont say it sucks, if you want say its not as good as previous Bethesda works, but not that it sucks, cause it dont.
