Switch
I can't really vote in this one as I've never seen Naruto. I don't think they were showing it in the UK back when I used to watch the kids channels. I know Dragon Ball Z was pretty awful, though I did get hooked for a while for some strange reason... as Dark0ne says that 25 episode battle with Freiza was ridiculous. :P I think my parents thought I was turning into some sort of moron watching that junk. And it's all pretty much the same stuff really. Oh, and Goku and Vejita would win because they'd keep finding ridiculous and unpheasible new ways to transform and become MERGED SUPER SAIYAN PHASE 19!!11!!11!11 or some such. Naruto and Garra would have course die from boredom while waiting for them to power up and finish making constipated grunting noises. Marxist ßastard
Why doesn't this sort of thing extend to American comedy cartoons? I want --- no, I demand --- Peggy Hill versus Marge Simpson.
Vagrant0
Why doesn't this sort of thing extend to American comedy cartoons? I want --- no, I demand --- Peggy Hill versus Marge Simpson.Probably because the people who make these sorts of threads aim for things which people are emotionally charged about and are nearly fanatical about. I've actually seen two kids start a fist fight over the whole DC vs. Marvel thing. Your suggestion just doesn't resonate with that sort of mentallity. But for the sake of argument, Marge would win, she's younger (atleast in terms of the actual character), and has more fighting experience, not to mention being more prone to psychotic fits. Peggy, although Texan and a bit more meaty, is a bit slower, less experienced, and has served less time in prison.
Povuholo
hahaha you guys know somthing funny? by me bringing up samurai 7, i just threw you all off topic :D ;D :D ;D :D hahahhahahaBut this is the off-topic forum so it is more or less allowed. ;D Oh great more off-topicness! I used to watch DBZ... A long time ago. Almost all my friends did. I remembered that one wasn't allowed to watch it by his mother. Not because of the screaming, not because of the fights, not because of anything they say... He couldn't watch it because of the scary shape of their eyes!

Perhaps, but the two don't resonate the same way with people, probably because anime is watched more frequently, and has some meaning within certain social groups. There are clubs and forums for specific animes, specific types of anime, and general anime. Whereas american comedy shows aren't as social, and they are, they normally keep to themselves. Anime is connected with videogames through creative marketing, so on a gaming site, you're bound to run into a few anime fans. Anime also has conventions, which appeals to that group who enjoy wearing costumes and assuming a different character, much like Starwars and Star Trek. I know it didn't start out like that, but it is what seems to be keeping the industry going. You'd probably get a better answer asking on an anime forum. I would suspect that they watch american shows too, but as it's more mundane, they don't bother to talk about it. Anime still has that exotic quality which helps hook people in. It's also often less comedy, more story, even in the case of some series which exist mostly for comedy (Excel Saga, FLCL, Galaxy Angel, Gintama, and many, many more) there tends to be fairly well defined characters and interaction. American shows (like Southpark, Futurama, and The Simpsons) can have the greater depth, but it usually takes awhile for them to build up to it. Actually, she's from Oklahoma. What's your point, I didn't wiki, havn't memorized the show, doesn't really change anything. She would just lose a bit faster. Dark0ne
On a completely unrelated note, yet in the hope that an anime geek knows the answer: does anyone know if another Full Metal Panic! is in the works? I just finished The Second Raid and thought it was a lot deeper, more mature and more entertaining than the original FMP. Worry is that there isn't even a new Jap release and the eng dubs normally take around a year to two years to be produced -- which blows a little! I didn't see any other listings, so that might be all you'll be able to get. It seems to be licensed by ADV, so you should be able to order it though. Some reviews can be found here:http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=
