Or a really bad artistic adaptation of a great story, that whole comic feel just didn't sit well for me, just seemed kinda lame.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_ThermopylaeEven though it's wiki... It's still a bit closer to history.

Dark0ne
It was Sin City in the time of the Ancients -- so you had to expect it to be over-the-top "rubbish". It definately is not meant to be historically accurate/realistic and anyone going to see the film with such expectations obviously didn't do their home work. Personally I found Sin City OTT and the same with 300 ... but I definately found 300 to be an entertaining film (far more so than Sin City, which I thought was drivvle) that was worth the money to go see in the cinema. Marxist ßastard
It's one thing to be historically inaccurate, and quite another to get absolutely everything wrong. The Battle of Thermopylae was a fight in which a force of 700 Thespians failed to rebel against an incompetent Spartan commander, who led them to their deaths. The Spartans later allied themselves with Persia in the Peloponnesian War, leading some to question if it was really a mistake that they sent the dumbest Spartan military man of all time (a title to which there are many proud contenders, but which Leonidas takes decisively) to Thermopylae. No need to go crazy. ;) fair enough, but all i have to say is "how is it homo erotic?" that diddnt make any sense what so ever. unless vagrant is a homophobe, SO I CHALLENGE YOU VAGRANT TO PROOVE THAT IT IS HOMO EROTIC ps its the way he stated his oppinion which got me riled up, i'd understand if he'd said something like: "i diddnt like ,it just isnt my sort of film blablah etc etc" but not likeing it because it wasnt close to reality? most movies aren't, not likeing it because it was homo erotic, how was it homoerotic? pss @vagrant, quote(from your post) "doesn't reflect the actual views of the people of that era"??? holey crap!! vagrant did you actually build a time machine, go back in time to the battle of Thermopylae and ask the persians andthe spartans their view?? how the hell did you build a time machine? thejake1453
yeah i know the greeks loved homo sexuality, but the only thing i can see that is even remotly homo erotic is that the spartans diddnt wear shorts or pants, how is that gay? its not like they were the sacred band (for those of you who don't know, the sacred band was a regiment of greek soldiers that were all homosexual lovers, however they were eventually wiped pot by the romans) and you are sayin homo erotic that sounds more like soft porn, and if i remember correctly i don't hink any of those spatans had sex, or made out, or gave each other a hug like a lover would, tell me what the homo erotic scenes were?!!?!?!!?!? i don't remember them cos their wernt any! If you didn't notice the homoerotic aspects of 300 then you may well have your foot in the closet door... and what the hell is that supposed to mean?!?!?!?!?!?!????!!!! Vagrant0
SO I CHALLENGE YOU VAGRANT TO PROOVE THAT IT IS HOMO EROTICI'll tell you why: 1) 300 Half-Naked, Sweaty men.2) Err, that's it.Exactly, it is not suggesting that people who liked the movie might be harboring those feelings, but the movie certainly seemed to be built around that premise with violence thrown in to make people more comfortable... Kinda like wrestling. In regards to the views of the people of that era, you should really do your own research about how these societies were constructed. Some of their customs, just aren't appropiate to be describing here. Again, the movie seemed to be presenting only the extreme machismo of spartains without touching on other, more prominant, aspects of their culture. And stop being so defensive already, there's certainly enough violence and drama to like the movie just for those reasons... Kinda like wrestling. Not to say that there is anything wrong with either of those.
