Talwyn224
I thought it would be kind of cool to see post-apocalyptic remnants of the Dunwich corp. Except, now a days they're not really shy about their cult like activities. There isn't much lore around the Dunwich established in the fallout universe. It's really just a nod to Lovecraft. So, why not expand upon that? I'd like to see a Cthulhu Mythos worshipping faction as there are numerous and quite large examples of this in FO3 & FO4 that the Old Ones are indeed present in the Fallout Universe. In fact personally I'd like to see a DLC or entire mod that takes the player North of Boston, following clues that lead them to the ruined university town of Arkham which is now over run with ghouls, cultists and other unspeakable horrors. There the player could discover that the Great War was planned all along to usher in the new age of the old ones however the Chinese struck first thus stopping an even worse apocalypse. You could also include Innsmouth and a cult of Deep One worshippers plus the actually village of Dunwich itself where the echoes of what Old Man Whately and the horror he tried to unleash are returning. You could also link in with The Secret of Cabot House quest as that definitely reeks of Cthulhu mythos [plus its been my most enjoyed side quest to date]
charwo
Go Pods! No seriously I would enjoy looting Miskatonic University. All those places from Arkham Horror, just waiting for me to shoot up with a Tommy Gun, just like in the game! Moraelin
I was kinda toying mentally with the idea of making a cult that's trying to raise Cthulhu, and if you humour them, it actually works, so then you have to get Yog Sothoth on board to stop ol' squid face. After all YS is probably the only reliable source of knowledge as to how, so, you know, make a deal with the devil to stop the other devil. Not sure I'm up to it, though. Also, bit of a setting problem, since R'lyeh is supposed to be in the Pacific and this is the east coast. Unless it's kinda like a mini-DLC where you travel to an island in the Pacific. ekRapid
The gunners needs to be reworked. But the direction you really need to go to is united common wealth like NCR, and then clash with another nation. The challenge and the stakes must increase for the game to be interesting, even moreso since you are shoehorn into being a great general. Going around the wasteland doing petty quests for a 100 caps or extra meaningless loot loses its allure fast when you should actually be dealing with matters of state. If you want to keep within the lore of Lovecraft's universe then for the North East seaboard [innsmouth] you'd need The Esoteric Order of Dagon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esoteric_Order_of_Dagon Dunwich is Yog Sothoth but there are also quite a few more of Lovecrafts' stories that could be mined such The Color Out of Space : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Colour_Out_of_Space This one would be fantastic if done right as it's set in the hills east of Boston and again would fit perfectly into the FO universe. Makes you wonder how Bethesda didn't incorporate these things to begin with. The gunners needs to be reworked. I thought this role was gonna belong to the minutemen. Unfortunately, they should be completely rewritten as well. Double dukes.
Moraelin
Yog Sothoth is the key, and the gate, and the guardian of the gate. He's coterminous with the whole universe, meaning he touches it in every single place. Yet he is outside it. He's quite literally the gate between every single point in the universe and dimensions beyond. What I'm getting at is that you could summon him quite literally everywhere, because he already IS everywhere. In Dunwich, or in China, or on Mothership Zeta. Dunwhich is just where the old man happened to do it before, not the only place where it can be done. Though admittedly, the game already being situated in MA and including Dunwich is a boon in that scenario. One could travel back there for the Yog Sothoth part. jcdenton2012
One idea that I had for the Gunners was a mercenary war between them and Talon Company.
Moraelin
Hmm, I suppose that would be one idea for a faction and quest arc. Get the Talon to muscle in from DC, and need your help in wiping out the Gunners. Bit of a deal with the devil, but then a lot of Fallout quests were historically that way. charwo
I want a fishing fleet or boat where you help them repair their boat or get them supplies or help them guard their catch and they take it into Diamond City.A faction centered on taking one of the towns (Salem or Concord would be good) and rebuilding them, but not with the workbench. Fix the houses, the pavement, put up walls. Help a community, not BE the community. Deciding what to do with refugees from western Mass who have come over to the Boston area because of better opprunties. How about helping people re-found Harvard or U Mass at University Point? How about refurbishing those Vaults and help out the would be elder3s get situated. How about hiring cyro specialists to unkill all the people in Vault 111, including your spouse (It's cyro stuff so all you need to do is theoretically is get the ice crystals out and inject em with stimpacks)Or a traveling school which teaches through brain downloading like Fallout 2' Medical Enhancer:http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pip-Boy_medical_enhancerHelping the Followers of the Apocalypse rebuild a hospitalANYTHING other than more people to shoot at. I'm tired of the mindless, brain dead killing. Any new faction should give people a CONSTRUCTIVE thing to do.
