TakaraPRG
I love the building system in Fallout 4, but I don't want to cheat and just simply get all of the crafting items and materials through a script. Is there a mod or something like that to give a realistic way of consistently gathering materials such as at a lumber mill or a rock quarry?Yes, actually, I have noticed that different settlements gather different scavaging items based on locations. Sanctuary for example seems to gather lots of Oil/Hubcaps/Globes/Fans. So they get you lots of aluminium screws, gears, and steel. Where Abernathy farm gets lots of fertilizer and wood. If you have your people scrapping they tend to gather a pretty healthy amount of this stuff. Give them a week and you actually have a pretty good haul. I still pick up lots of random stuff that has things I need such as copper, ceramic and stuff that I feel i need and I generally don't have much of an issue with supplies for building so long as i go out scavving for specific things now and then. Moraelin
Probably because whatever mod added those for you, forgot to remove their contents. Longer version: Basically every container in Beth games has a list of contents it has when you loot it. Each entry can be explicit stuff like "2 stimpacks" or it can be a levelled list of random stuff to choose, like "energy ammo" or "vendor chems". And it has a flag that says whether it should respawn. GENERALLY, in Beth games, player containers (stuff that goes in your home, your personal footlocker at BOS, or here containers you place) are set to NOT respawn, so they don't destroy whatever you stash in them. Because that's what happens when they respawn: the old content disappears. And almost everything else is set to respawn. If a modder forgot to change the list and respawn flag when adding placeable containers, well, you just described what happens.
ad3d0
Hey Everyone! Thaught i'd share this "Bug" or Intention from Bethesda with You:Every Footlocker (Little Green Trunk) You place inside your Settlement will randomly drop items (suits, glasses, ammo, EVEN FUSION CORES & MINI NUKES) like the settlers are adding thier stuff into these Containers. Now i don't know if this is a side-effect from my +20 Mods installed, but i placed like over 30 of these and now i have a consistent (every 24 Hour or so) Supply of badly needed Ammo and Clothes (Like Fatigues and stuff, i love to dress my Settlers as Soldiers to have a small, private Army) I would like to know if You can replicate this "Bug" or did Bethesda really implemented this "Feature", but the questions remains: Why do only the green, little Footlockers get "resupplies"? -PizzaPissIts side effect of cell editing in mods... McC1oud
Rarest item for me is fiber optics. Can't build any good arrays of heavy laser turrets as they take 4 each. Edited December 21, 2015 by McC1oud
Moraelin
Well, there are several merchants that sell shipments of fiber-optics. It's one of the things I do find myself trading for, unlike the basic stuff like steel and wood that the settlers gather like there's no tomorrow. I can't remember if phones have them. But hell....I've been looting the hell out of the institute! That said...my main stronghold has 5 heavy laser turrets spread out. They have annihilated every threat coming their way with the help of guards and guard dogs. (only 2 to 3 are ever working together.)
Talwyn224
I agree with the OP in that it would be better to take over places like a quarry and Sagus Iron works in order to produce raw materials etc. However if the game starts going that way you're looking a a version of Command & Conquer instead of Fallout. Meh, I'd prefer it if you did have to capture places like Sagus Iron Works, it'd make a lot more sense to have your scrap metal shipped there to be refined into steel etc.
