I'll never endorse this!

I also disagree, this is the internet.....lets be honest here. A good amount of Troll happenings go on around here. Well I completely support the idea that someone needs to beable to deal with some negative feedback. How is it fair that someone who just did something wrong with the mod or the like is going to give a frustrated thumbs down? People can be pretty big asses....the current system works fairly well, based on how many endorsements it has can tell you a lot about the mod. I usually read the forum/comment section first to see what kind of problems may pop up. If you don't do your research first...the problem was you.

I generally agree. It begs the question though, how would you know some one did not do due diligence? In the interests of disclosure, I do diligence in the regards you mention on every single file I ever download. But we can't have a checklist to see if a negative endorser did, can we?

Why would one have to exist? Does one exist for the positive endorser? Why does the guy who does not like it have to defend that position, but anyone can make fake accounts and positively endorse their own stuff till the cows come home?

You are operating on complete conjecture.....that doesn't happen now to any degree I've noticed. Skyrim mods came and went but the top download mods almost always sat atop the most endorsed pile. Because...people liked them.

But you still haven't made a point as to why this would help the site. As bben pointed out, it used to exist but it was removed. I can see why, on a site where people create things for free to share to other people why would you want to try and tell people what they are doing sucks? No one starts good...and the guy/girl made the mod because they themselves wanted it....and if one person wants what ever it is they created someone else may want it too. *Shrugs* Why should you poo poo that? It simply sounds like an outlet to make someone upset.

Constructive criticism can be good, and no moderator ( I WOULD HOPE) should ban you for such advise. But simply having a thumbs down or ( NEVER ENDORSE THIS ) this mod just sounds insulting. Lets just take this topic as a prime example. You had an idea...you asked for feedback. And by my count....you are the only one in favor of it who has posted anything. You are the only defender....and all you did was make a forum post. How much would you defend it if you created a mod and had people simply downvoting it for reasons you didn't understand? I can see the mod creator getting just as defensive. *Shrugs*

Would you like to try that and join the others that tried? It is a game we call Whack-A-Troll.

  • 2 weeks later...

Being an author can sometimes be stressful enough just because of the amount of users who are completely clueless, don't read descriptions and ask repetitive questions over and over again.

And you want to add on top of that with a permanent "Dont ever endorse this" button.

omg...

edit: don't get me wrong, lots of users are really nice and helpful, but some of the others...

omg... i'm so feeling you, sometimes i just simply want to remove the post tab because of their cluelessness but in the end, i end up ignoring them. But by ignoring them, they can get the wrong impression and disliking the author. If that feature ever exist... i would stop modding for sure.

having made a quite successful mod myself for skyrim, and it was my 1st released mod I understand how frustrating it is to keep on top of complaints requests and bug fixes especially if you are new to being a modder, Its a full time job...

So i kinda disagree with most of this post, if you dont want to endorse then dont, if you have an issue report it on the chat page.

anyone who has half a brain should be checking comments before they install to make a better choice of whether they want to add the content to thier game.

as for people being rude.. well its the internet, and like i said when you have 1000s of people trying to put their un educated or educated views across its a big task to please everyone. I was pulling my hair out trying to keep up.

Modders put a lot of time and i mean a lot of time into creating free content thatr can potentially make or break your game, i had more hours in the CK than i did in the game for skyrim. be patient, but if your unhappy with a modder or a mod just dont use it

also haters like to voice their opinions louder than happy people, having a tag for never will endorse wont show an accurate acoount of what people think of the mod
