jonaflynn
So I downloaded nexus to add some mods to the game but the game crashes after the Bethesda logo on launch. I checked nexus and it says for some of the mods that the files 'dawnguard.esm' and 'dragonborn.esm' are missing which what I assume is causing the game to crash. Could any tell me how to get these files or what I have to do to get the game running with these mods please? Explain simply cos I'm new to modding and dont know a lot of these terms. Thanks
JimboUK
Both Dawnguard and Dragonborn are official Skyrim DLCs available on Steam, you need to have them installed for that mod to load.

blattgeist
Noone is asking you to buy these DLCs. But if you want to use certain mods you need them. Although Dogs of Skyrim does not require any DLCs. Must be another mod. Edited December 27, 2015 by blattgeist
Yknotu
tCould any tell me how to get these files These files are located in your Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/Data folder. These are central to everything including all the patches. But Nexus wants these files in another folder as well. I couldn't get Nexus to run because it said I need the Skyrim.esm and the Update.esm in Steam/steamapps/downloading/72850/data folder. So I copied the two files from the Skyrim Data folder and copied them into the 72850/Data folder. Now Nexus works. I don't know if the 72850 folder is a unique number? Your number might be different? But if you follow the path I gave you'll find it. I didn't have any problem with the game loading, but I couldn't add any mods through the Nexus Mod Manager. The Dawnguard and Dragonborn.esm files are there as well. Hope this helps?

Nephenee13
If you have the Legendary edition then you have all three DLCs. Redownload from Steam. This is not complicated, its an error on your end.
