Outright Censorship isn't the answer. There are tools put in place to filter based on taste. Hotfiles being an exception.

 

I think the best solution is that if a file makes HotFiles then no image is automatically selected and the Author has to assign an image to be viewed from the main page. It can be expressly stated that no image can contain direct focus on Genitalia. Nudity is fine so long as its not done in an obviously exploitative way.

 

I.E. Don't do a close up of a vagina because you want more people to view your mod.

 

That's just reasonable. I have no issues with frontal nudity. Male or Female. I'm not a prude or shy about nudity or sexuality. But I understand that some people are.

 

But again, exploiting imagery of genitalia should be discouraged. Nudity is fine.

 

The vagina was the end for me. I can tolerate ridiculously sexualised clothing, boobs etc (I selected see adult content for a reason) but a close up of a vagina on the main page every time I logged on...that was too much. You could almost say it was the difference between soft and hard porn.

Yes, I know this is a spoof and Angry Joe is slightly embarrassed about this video... but that's the point. Its the juvenile aspect of your core player base that ARE looking for T&A.

There's going to be a whole lot more of it in the future, and it's been debated for some time about the appropriateness of Hot File imagery.

 

All it ever boiled down to was, "turn the filter on, or deal with it." as bben pointed out. Essentially, the debate will go absolutely no where. It hasn't in the many years it's been talked about.

 

Authors rarely dip into several different themes though, those making/displaying NSFW content are likely to stick to that so it might be worth Blocking them in the long run. It's highly unlikely they'll make a Gameplay Changes and Effects mod that you 'just gotta have!' for example.

Nah, they already worked out a title for that. C- of the Commonwealth. Abbreviating hilariously appropriately to COCs. But hey, at least it'll be one mod, rather than 100 people sharing their unique, personal and lovingly designed schlong... right?

 

God help us all if we get a CBBE for schlongs.

 

 

Unless it comes with optional Top Hat and Monocle.

Another I hate nude mod thread? I'm going to ask for a moderator to please, if possible, delete all these threads. If not, then lock them. The people who are making these threads should have to have the threads approved of before allowing to be posted, at the least. This is a mature site. It says so in the TOS. If you can't abide by the TOS, then delete your account, erase the cookies, and delete all bookmarks to the site.
