XCOM 2

New XCOM is on the way and I can't wait to play it and try the SDK. I have few things I want to do :) like Ultra Violet glasses.

 

But a question came on my mind. Where will we discuss XCOM 2 modding? Is the game going to have its own Nexus forum?

Good question, and one I'd like to know the answer to too. It might take the community a while to settle on a place. Since they'll presumably be distributed mostly through steamworks, who knows if they'll also regularly be posted here...

 

There's an xcom2mods subreddit, but its lightly used right now and Reddit isn't really the best for long term discussions or the current knowledge on the wiki.

I also believe a fully dedicated "XC2-Forum" (or indirect sub-area) should be created by the Nexus staff.

 

We'll all eventually get down to the gritty business of more than just planning our ideas.. and likely will find good use for any SDK details and features "instructions" somewhere. Might as well be right here in our regular Modding community.

 

PS.. TT, have you noticed one of the newest Icons that represent some Mission objectives? It immediately reminded me of something i offered for the "Campaign Summary" resources;

I'm still not planning on doing any more work on the EW version of the campaign summary, there isn't much time left before xcom2. I still dunno if I plan on doing something similar for xcom2 or not, it depends on what if anything is already there in the base game and how much has changed with the modding tools for UI work. It was a huge pain to do for EW.

As expected, Xcom2 should open a wide range of Modding possibilities... thus, i like your rational approach -- let's just see what might happen in the near (predictably easier with more solid SDK potentials) future.

And, just forget the EW+LW projects we once planned.

I always assumed the Nexus staff would be opening up a forum for XCom 2 separate from the EU forums. Either way I will probably be releasing my mods on nexus first and then Steam so I'll be waiting for the Nexus staff to start on those discussions. Steam forums and such are always such a mess and filled with such...trash I guess would be an appropriate word. Nexus is always so much more organized and friendly.

I've just sent a message to SirSalami to mention our needs for a new Forums section dedicated to XCom2.

Let's see if we can get results -- in time for release! :ninja: :cool:

I'm kind of sceptical about the need for a Nexus site for XCOM 2 considering Firaxis's close ties to Valve and Steamworks/Steam Workshop. I don't foresee there being much of a place for Nexus considering how closely they'll be tying in things with Steam Workshop.
