Just Massacred Covanent by accident?

My character was making a purchase a pennies store, when I hit the tab key and exited the barter screen, when penny started yelling I was trying to kill them all and while she was shooting at me, the rest piled in the store with guns(1 had a baseball bat) and I couldn't talk to the so I ended up hacking them to pieces. Then I received Heavy MG fire from 1 of the wall MG turrets and Jacob ran in I tried to talk to him, but ended up killing him too and taking out the MG turret. Then decided to make a clean seep, so I killed the cat as well.

The problem is that everything is still 'owned' by them and I can't even sleep in their beds and everything I took was 'stolen'. Also while I got everything I traded for, the 'coins' were gone as were the other items I had bartered. This leads me to believe that killing all of Covenant was a usual occurrence. I got a map to compound, but it doesn't show anything and I can't find it on Pip-boy map.

There is a "compound"...

Go outside the entrance of Covenant. Look across that nasty excuse of a lake and you'll see these big drainage pipes on the other side. Enter there. I did this as part of a quest to find the cause of some missing caravans and some rich guy's daughter.

It doesn't matter if you actually did the Compound or not. Almost everything in Covenant remains owned in any case.

You can always just use "markfordelete" and "disable" on the stuff that you want to get rid and is owned, like the turrets.

Note that you CAN do the same with the owned beds, but owned beds count as beds just the same. The settlers won't sleep in them, but they'll still be happy that they have enough beds :p

I wiped out Covenant too, minus the cat who seems to be happy enough whether it's empty or not (lol! Typical cat...). I also destroyed then disabled the turrets/residents and used 'setownership' on everything else that was owned. (partly what the above link that Kastergir posted does)

Moved some Settlers in and they used the beds just fine but while the bunk beds count as two they only use the bottom bed. Gave them all copies of the Covenant keys so they could open the doors.

I do believe though that later the cell reset and everything went back to owned and destroyed turret pieces returned. Bodies stayed gone though. Travis still comments on the radio about Covenant being mysteriously empty even though I have people and defenses there...lol.

Possible Spoiler,

I'm playing on PS4

The first time I did the quest I was trying to be peaceful when I went over to the underground area. The guards at the front attacked me so I wiped them out. The scientist lady kept saying she wouldn't be sorry for anything she'd done. I couldn't help it and gave her a smack w/ bare fist. She got hostile and it was hilarious b/c Piper literally picked her up and slammed her on the ground and then shot her to death. Women tend to be like that w/ other women.

When I came back to the town everyone immediately started shooting at me. At that point I was around level 60 so it gave me a good laugh. Wiped them all out, then I stole everything in town and put it right into the work bench.

All of the beds that were owned I got around by assigning a settler to them. After that the bed wouldn't appear as owned anymore. The only annoying thing I couldn't get rid of was the flames from the turrents I had to destroy. I also wish there was a way to get rid of those doors in the front that you have to open at every pass.
