waspen123
Hello! I was just wondering if there is any tweak i can get to enhance the gameplay a bit? I experince a lot of lag at the moment, lowest settings but highest resolution, 1920x1080. I got a nvida 9400 GT graphic card slightly overclocked and all possible settings set on performance..AMD athlon x2 64 5400+ dual core processor (3.2 ghz)7 gig DDR2 1300mhz memory, with virtual memory making it 10 gig. I know the graphic card is verry bad, but ive seen people with 7xxx craphic card and 2.2 ghz processor with 2 gig running it better than me.. how is that possible? Everytime there is something moving fast or being verry bright i lag like shiz, still playable but verry laggy, its even hard to aim properly, i have to use VATS almost every time.. and if i run out of AP im mostly dead.I decrased some setting that i read should make the mouse more smooth, and it helped a bit, but not much.. Would be verry greatfull for answers /Dennis

ita
That's strange, your system should be well over the minimum requirements. Have you looked at the Fallout New Vegas tweak guide to see if there are any settings you could experiment with in order to get a more smoother gameplay? Also, have you tried New Vegas Stutter Remover?

ita
On the other hand, I run NV in 1680x1050 with textures and LOD settings set to maximum on a ~5 year old Geforce 7800 and 2 Gb of slow 800MHz system RAM with very little lag, at least nowhere near the levels the OP is experiencing. Apparently knocking down the resolution a few hundred pixels is the key.
waspen123
Thanks for the answers! Ill check on that stutter removal and ive got that dll file to fix some lag already, and ill try going down a bit on resolution then! hopefully it will let me play "ok" without lag untill ive bought my new bike frame so i can buy new graphic card xP :wallbash: Thank you all so much! waspen123
F*ck, that stutter thing didnt work at all, and decrasing from 1920x1080 to 1600 didnt help much either :S for some reason i seem to be lag free when im in new vegas, outside, but if i go inside a casino, i get a massive rape attack by lag soldiers.. :pirate:
ita
Have you checked the tweak guide to see if there are any other graphics settings you can reduce to get smoother gameplay? You should also close any unnecessary Windows programs prior to running Fallout: NV, if you haven't already.

That will definitely tax your system (I run a 955 X4 Phenom with 4GB RAM and a Radeon 6950 OC'd and still get some stutter when using better populated casinos but it levels out shortly after entering)... The way the post is I quoted sounds, it seems as if that's the issue. If not let us know. Also, saying that you are, "Lag free when I'm in New Vegas outside..." is a bit vague but I assume when you mean you're in the wasteland and not inside of any buildings, but the problem seriously comes up in casinos??? waspen123
Yeah sorry im just a 16yo punk from sweden, not so good at english hehe.. Genocide, i never have anything else than the virus protection (AVG) and the game im playing up, so i dont think thats the reason, i also tried puttin windows theme to performance, so it looked like freakin windows 98, but that didnt help either. And pharcry, nope, i dont run any mods at all, except from that stutter removal and some d3d9.dll thing that was in the tweak guide, and i lag everywhere, but im mostly lag free in new vegas, and i mean just in new vegas, when im outside in new vegas.. but when i go away from there or inside ANY building, i start lagging :wallbash: its annoying.. and i have all settings on low, except view/lod distance on almost mid (had it on low first, the lag was the same.) oh i forgot, and i run it in 1680x1050, but i do lag as much as i did in 1920x1080 for some reason  Edited April 21, 2011 by waspen123
