Need help making "Support Build"

So here is the problem. I am trying to come up with a sort of engineer/support character build for a new playthrough. Let's just use "The Engineer" as a WIP name. The whole idea of it is that the Engineer is that while they can't survive well on their own in a firefight, they use their skills to support big powerful followers like Strong or Paladin Danse, twisting the battlefield to their favor and keeping their followers alive and in the fight for as long as possible.

 

There are two big challenges I have to face to make this build.

 

1: Perks

I know a few perks that would go well for the build, being Demolitions Expert, Medic, Life Giver, Hacker, maybe Inspirational, and of course, all the crafting perks. But aside from those perks, I have no idea what else to do. I don't exactly need a whole list of what perk to pick at what level, but I just need a perk selection to give the build longevity.

 

2: How exactly to "Support"

Aside from running over to stimpack your followers and taking out high-damage enemies like turrets, I am unsure exactly how else I can support followers. The Engineer can't soak up a lot of bullets, so meatshield tactics wouldn't work.

 

Any help coming up with this would be most appreciated.

Couldn't find any, but that would be very useful for this build.

There's this one mod you can put on gun that heal instead of do damage, it's probably legendary mod so you should get the mod that let's you mod legendary mods in your guns as you mod them.

Now all that's left is the perk setup.

But... with that mod you can heal with any gun

There is a legendary weapon effect that does produce a gun that heals, but I have never seen one in all of my time playing.

Here is the thing with the gun, it doesn't need any perks whatsoever, even the chemist and reload perks to use it fully. The only perks that effects it is sniper, it let you hold your breath more and gun nut.

 

So do what you want really. The only thing I can think about it that is really needed is Gun nut, Action Girl/boy, moving target. Finding live and love meg, total hack megs, the bobble heads and that it really.

 

 

I guess hacker and Robotics Expert for more usefulness?

Add mines and grenades for more fire power?
