Glycerius
This is my point.....WHY NOT A DAMN TANK? The tank can easily drive over rubble of almost any kind. guaranteed. the only issue i can think of other than actually making the machine function and animated would be the physics. since this game lacks even the most modest of physics I imagine scripting physics for a tank would be very difficult, like the center of gravity, weight, friction, collision, traction. ..etc..What basic physics does the game lack? I once saw a car move quite a distance, and at speed, but I'm 90% sure it was some Gunner-BoS dustup, which bounced the car off an elevated highway. The car can move in some way, but that's not really under it's own power. Power armour might be a vehicle of sorts. Hopefully some strong editing tools are coming. It would be nice to pilot a non crashing vertibird or ride a tank (earlier Fallouts had them I think), drive a car, ride the Lone Wanderer motorbike, but I think it's beyond distant. maybemeandyou
honestly its fallout, "game of infinite possibility" as they seem to sell us out on. shame though, i really thought we were getting vehicles in this game (and a larger map ffs). but if and when the geck is released i think itll be doable to add functional tanks and cars. i mean you can go through the corvega factory and loot engine parts I REALLY THOUGHT YOU COULD ASSEMBLE ONE D:
Jasemyne
Riding in a vertibird taxi solves any serious problems along the blocked roads and in rough terrain, so what

Enjoy being either stuck in the scenery, or getting from one end to another in 2 minutes. Yep, currently the map doesn't really need a car. Car would be driving too fast (or you kept getting stuck). I dont even have enough time spent on auto run because even autorun sometimes is too much. I either get to places so fast or I end up navigating manually. A tall power armor like vehicle (with legs) that we can be either the driver or gunner, can be fun. But Bethesda may just mess up the autopiilot (or the companion driving). And we end up micro directing them (thus better if we drive).

Didn't know pre/post war Fallout cars were so tanky that they can plow through everything with ease. Or you wanted a tank? :PAnd unless the author rescales you+car to smaller dimensions and scales everything else to larger ones, you'll still face the issue of a tiny map. Tiny, and quite uneven. What kind of car are you thinking about in the end?

Tiny, and quite uneven. What kind of car are you thinking about in theWell if you think about a nuclear powered car the weight of these cars would be enourmous due to the lead shielding around the engine so despite they would or could move fast they are bulky like a 60s cadillac. take 200 years of weathering and you have a car thats drivable but not perfect. doesnt go that fast but is quicker than any type of running you would do. the speed of the car can be set to any amount to be fair to the map size but still offer an alternative. also use tools (scrap) to repair some red rocket stops to refuel coolant (not gas, its nuclear) possible yes? also consider the weight of these cars would make good for plowing s#*! out of the way. DaiKhairai
as far as vehicles go the "personal craft-able vertibird" mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12135/?) gave me a helpful point to think about, its relies so heavily on the its Auto pilot effect that it makes to many mistakes and spazing through the map mad me realize all the more so that i wanted to be able to pilot it myself. Robot WORK BENCH STYLE FRAMEWORKthere's a point i hope is implemented in any car mod we get, i really hope its possible, but its would be best (i imagine) if it could be a variation of the Robot workshop. If it were a workshop based system then it'd be far easier to mod its components, making it really feel like whatever car you have, its special, its signature and its all yours. I feel its an important enough point of structure to think about that i'll make another post with that title just to make it more obvious in the hopes that whoever is thinking of working on it that way will consider it Edited May 4, 2016 by DaiKhairai
