Load Order issue or Misc problem?

Hi all,

 

Need a bit of advice as I'm having some really odd non-specific CTD during the initial Goodsprings area after starting a new game.

 

This is a fresh install of FNV (and Dead Money DLC) through Steam. I'm using fewer mods than I did with FO3 and I have tried the most obvious things to try and fix the problem.

 

My setup is as follows:

 

Win 7 64-bit

ATI 5870 HD

4GB RAM

AMD Athlon II x 2 Processor

 

I said I receive a 'non-specific' CTD because there doesn't seem to be any catalyst. Though there is a small pattern emerging. It seems to be CTD after initiating conversation with Sunny Smiles and following her outside to get a lesson in shooting. It might crash when I follow her but through the Mojave but never at the same particular point. Nothing stick out in FNVedit but maybe I'm not looking hard enough or know what I'm looking for. I have a feeling it might be my load order or perhaps my set-up just can't handle the Hi Res textures. Haha!

 

If anyone spots anything iffy in my Load Order please could you let me know (I've tried to follow the nexus' load order guide as best as I can after using BOSS to sort my order first):

The game seems to be running fine other than this CTD. It runs smoothly and then just stops at random points for reasons I cannot find. I am using FOMM, fnv4gb.exe, latest NVSE (activated using console and getNVSEversion during gameplay)

 

Hope one of you can help. :)

Is FNV really as unstable as they're saying it is?

I haven't done a masterupdate (FNVedit) but will do if anyone feels it will make a real difference. I hear it's not always wise to just masterupdate even if it seemingly fixes the problem?

I'm no expert but I don't see anything wrong with the load order at a glance (except the Electro City stuff, I think in the latest versions only the ESM is used with no ESP files...), but personally I've experienced random spots in the game where I will get CTDs a few times in a row. Sometimes they clear up and sometimes not. In that case, reverting to a save before that fixes things (I've had several problems arise from corrupt saves, but I manually do a console "save 0-9" as I'm playing so I can save whenever I feel the need and for troubleshooting purposes when the need arises). What are your graphics settings at? Also try the FNV Configator and tweak settings in that, especially the Havoc threads used (bump it up to 2 since you have a dual-core CPU. Anyone else?

Since the initial post I decided to do an FNVmaster update (which I understand is still in beta stages?). Somehow it removed my archiveinvalidation.bsa (thus invalidating my textures and meshes) and messed up my DarnUI font settings. I didn't think it had any effect on the *.ini!! I know it's not supposed to do this... It might not even be possible for the MU to do this. Either way, I used MU like I would in FO3 and my FO3 was fairly stable. Well anyway, the master update seemingly messed my setup so much that I decided to uninstall all the mods through FOMM and I'll start installing them again this weekend. I wonder though, might it be a conflict between Populated Casinos, Wasteland Repopulated and IWS?? I can't know for sure but it's just a thought. Are these all compatible when running side by side? This sticks out to me:

Maybe it's trying to spawn a load of NPCs on top of the NPC Wasteland repopulated has spawned and my system is just CTD because it can't handle the load.

 

I was doing console saves in Fallout 3 but I hadn't even step foot outside of Goodsprings let alone make a save so I can't have a corrupted save - I start from the beginning each time. My ATI graphic settings are almost maxed out (I don't OC incidentally) and I don't turn on the native AA because the depth of field and DYNAVISION 2 effects make up for that (also runs more smoothly that way). I forgot to alter the iNumHavokThreads to 2. I'll do that now in prep for my remodding this weekend.

 

If someone could shed any light on the suspected Populated Casinos, Wasteland Repopulated and IWS conflict I would be most grateful, preferably someone with a similar setup to me. Thanks btw PharCry ;)
