Vindekarr
Just ignore him Marharth, that's got nothing to do with the topic at hand. News report I saw today stated an increase in militancy in Syria-anyone know if this is a new development or not? I've heard some rumors of a militant force in the area around Daraa but no nothing else about that. Shooting civilians is unacceptable, but it seems a lot more believeable that militants would be in the area, either before, or as a result of the recent attacks. Current official death toll is 400. DeTomaso
Just ignore him Marharth, that's got nothing to do with the topic at hand. Shooting civilians is unacceptable, but it seems a lot more believeable that militants would be in the area, either before, or as a result of the recent attacks. Current official death toll is 400. Evidently Daraa is surrounded by a brigade of Bashar al-Assad's Republican Guard. The snipers that shoot at civilians high probably belong to Assad's fourth column. Both units are Shiite. The Syrians as well as the Syrian army are largely Sunni. It is quite decisive now if the Syrian army tries to take a stand in the conflict and what the Sunni clergy might have to say and the Shiite answer by the Iranian Ayatollahs that'd follow. A Sunni fatwa against the Shiite minority regime is less probable cos this would directly lead to open civil war if not to something more worse Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan are absolutely not interested in due to the running Palestinian conflict, especially in the Gaza. It is possible that the bloody Syrian conflict goes back and forth for long without clear outcome.
grannywils
I have something of a grudge against the Israeli regime for it's numerous human rights violations, Like Muslim fundamentalist honor killings? Like throwing acid in the faces of girls who try to go to school? Like executing the women convicted of adultery under Shariah Law BUT NOT THE MEN? OH! My bad. Thats' the people the Israeli's are fighting...NOT THEM. So much for human rights. Like the Iranian backed and Hezbollah supporting Syrian government is concerned with human rights. C'mon dude. They're shooting more of their own people than ever before. Where is your line of 'thought' coming from?Their enemies do terrible things, that does not mean the government of Israel is good. Not sure what your trying to say here. Marharth, I know I am hard on you sometimes, but wanted to give you credit here. You stood up for yourself, or actually I think it was Wizard's or Vindekarr's original statement regarding Israel's less than perfect human rights record. Kendo made an attempt to diffuse it by coming back and countering with a remark about the other sides' absolutely horrendous human rights violations. While what he says is also true, that does not excuse human rights violations by the Israelis. You did a good job in coming back and saying so. I would hesitate however in saying that the whole government of Israel is not good. I'm not sure if that is correct or not. But I still give you kudos for standing up to a very astute, learned and scary poster in Kendo. Good job.
