Magic. Pure Mage? Finishing moves?

I also felt that having to drink potions non-stop really broke the immersion. It would be more fun if magicka regeneration was much quicker than previous games. And now will we be able to do anything to boost magicka regen? I don't think putting our magic up will put up the regen too.

You can do that in Oblivion anyway, you mage stats go well beyond 150, so for combat casting, whack on some serious stat enchants. My mage can regen to full(1299) in 3 seconds, you dont need much more than that, surely. Stats: birthsign: The Lady, High Elf, Will/Int both 226

If you cant jam enough gear and enchants in to get those stats, just use the console, eventualy you'll regen so fast that you dont need potions. FUrthermore, the potions yopu can make at Alchemy 100 realy kick ass, IO can totaly recomend Alchemy, if only for the UBERE UBER OP buffs you can make, like frickin' five minute long 200 HP/S health regen, or magicka-buffs going into the high hundreds. You can also do regen potions, and they're really unfair... FOR THE ENEMY!

I'm not sure whether they'll be finishing moves, but there they can pull it off in a number of ways. Examples:

1) If you're in close range, and your next fireball is going to kill them, you throw your arm up and blow it up in their face, sending them flying backwards.

--> Might be a bit difficult. Or else, it would only work on average-sized humanoids, as it's difficult to define the parameters of "close range" when you using a close-mid range spell.

2) From mid-long range, if your next spell is about to kill: a fireball could explode a bit more spectacularly, and the enemy goes flying. Frost could freeze them a bit, and leave their body in a limp but standing position, and a lightning spell could make them convulse and be thrown with a fair amount of force.

--> I can see one or two of the above occurring. Wouldn't really be a finishing move though, as the game wouldn't know if your spell misses, so your casting animation would be the same.

Yeah I can see the long range things happening. In oblivion some creatures and NPCs went flying into the air when you kill them with a spell. But I'd love to see some close range finishing moves as you've mentioned. Imagine being able to put your hands on someone's face with an electricity spell and fry their brains to finish them off. Or explode their head with a fire spell. And some really unique things could be done if telekinesis becomes an offensive magic.

Part of what disappointed me was that telekinesis was utterly useless except for collecting welkynd stones.

I would love to see them do something similiar to Supreme Magicka.

Well we know telekinesis is confirmed and a lot of people thought it was useless in oblivion so Bethesda should fix that hopefully. And supreme magicka was such successful mod that I'm sure they won't ignore the ideas it brought to magic.

for magic my dad once designed a spell that made him almost undestructable and gave him a magic boost. Not only that when it went out so did his light spell which indicated that he no longer had it running. He played through the game on hardest difficulty with ease.
