ub3rman123
I've finally gotten Borderlands working. I downloaded a save online with most of the quests done so I can skip ahead to the DLC stuff I haven't done before. For some reason, the first playthrough on it is very easy. Just a few sniper rifle shots takes out most bosses. However, when I first set it to the second playthrough, it started out pleasantly challenging, but now it's gotten to the point where I have to empty 8 headshots into a mob just to kill it. Relatively low-level areas like Krom's Canyon are around level 60, and even places that are in the very beginning of the playthrough (The bandits who attack Fyrestone at the beginning, for example) are level 58. I tried to kill Mothrakk recently, and, no joke, I'd have run out of ammo for all my weapons even with fully upgraded SDUs had I not had ammo regeneration. Now, I'm trying to pinpoint the cause of this extreme difficulty. First thing might be the playthrough, but I've done a second playthrough before and it was no worse than the first.Second might be a problem with the save game. For some reason all quests are marked as Trivial difficulty even though more I die several times on. Third could be the Claptrap's Robot Revolution DLC raising the level cap, but I'm not so sure. Anyone else experienced this phenomenon or know how to make the game easier? I am playing with Demigod mode on for the time being because I'd be broke and crazy without it. somerandomsheepthathops
Happened to me on my second replay to. Definitely made me want to put my controller and 360 through the wall :wallbash:.
ub3rman123
I did some looking up. It might be that I'm playing with Roland with no elemental damage. Most people say you need elemental effects to get through the second playthrough. Maybe I'll try swapping to Lillith for the elemental bonuses. Is weapon damage at all class-based, i.e. Mordecai does more damage with a rifle (Ignoring skill points)?
Vindekarr
Well, the main reason you're getting slaughtered is the class: In Borderlands survival is mainly down to regeneration or cover usage. I dont expect you're using much cover-I've never seen anyone do that outside Bad Company-so your lack of regen is what's hurting you. Grab a shield marked as "fast health regen" and adopt a cover heavy approach, this'll save you heaps, lastly, dont die. If you're losing, exit and restart the game, this will prevent you losing money, dying is a vast setback at the endgame since my revive cost at levelcap is literaly $9,999,999.999 which is why Im a survivalist, I never sdo anything potentialyt fatal, and if I am taking more damaghe than I can regenerate, I simply hoof it. Secondly, your gear isd likely coming into play: As a Siren I can take most guys in a single shot, let alone a headshot, using my revolvers or pity to them, my sniper rifles. Roland's DPS is lousy, but it sounds like he's also a poor fit for your playstyle, and woefully underequiped. My biggest hits can drop a lancer in a single headshot, and Alpha Skags simply evaporate, you know you're kickin' ass when you can kill a lancer by shooting him in the chest, that's when badass status begins. Either role a Siren or get better gear, I really dont think you've got much other choice. With my gear the way it is, my lovely Siren can nail Mothrakk in about 2 magazines, I favour electric damage as elements go, though fire is also effective, failing that I favour explosive as explosive weapons so all their elemental effect damage in a single aoe "dump" Edited April 30, 2011 by Vindekarr
ub3rman123
Funny thing. I just tried going into the Knoxx DLC expecting it to be more difficult. It's really easy, equivalent to my first playthrough. And the loot's not as good either. The difficulty could stem from my playstyle, since I just shoot with whatever weapon I fancy at the moment (Pinning someone in the corner with the Torgue Bastard is fun!). I'll try swapping the class to Siren for a bit to see how it goes.
Thor.
What i do is do the easy stuff first like the Zombie island and other dlc before i even think of playing round 2. Then lv up higher then the npc's them selves, then smoke'emhttp://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif Especially in general knoxx in round one, or even 2. ub3rman123
Even at high levels, though, it seems like the enemies are leveling with me. Bandits just outside Fyrestone are level 59 now. Although all of the DLCs are easy. This difficulty bipolarity is weird.
Thor.
If you think about it its a good thing, i don't want the game to be to easy or it just after awhile gets boring. Unlike some games i know, Borderlands leveling system is solid.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gifhttp://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif Edited April 30, 2011 by Thor. evilneko
I never did get Borderlands working on my desktop. It simply does not like AMD quad cores. :(
Thor.
I have it for ps3, sigh if only psn was up and working again. No real concerns with my account, no legit info, except my name and City.
