Zer0Suii
Hello everyone. I have run into a problem with TES Construction Set and recording voice overs for custom dialogue. When I record the audio and click preview it plays fine.http://i55.tinypic.com/2gvu529.jpgSo when I save it for the specific character that is supposed to speak it it leaves this message at the bottom of the screen and I typed it up exactly as it appears in Google and apparently no one in the world has this problem but me. The message says "Copying WAV file to voice directories..."http://i55.tinypic.com/fncrgl.jpgand it just hangs there. The file is in the directory and I can preview it just fine. However the character I assign it to will only display the text and will not speak his line vocally or move his lips for that matter. My questions today are: Has anyone tried this before? If so am I just doing it wrong? And lastly, how can I get it to work? Oh! Before I forget: I am the administrator on my computer, I have UAC disabled, all that good stuff that just makes everything work perfectly fine like the good ol' XP days of yore. Any other advice is welcome to. Thanks!
HeyYou
Voice files I think have to be in a specific format in order to play correctly. Check the CS Wiki on just how that is managed....
alex2avs
Another solution would be to use tes4gecko to generate the voice files. - then identify the voice mp3 with the dialog text - use a sound editor and edit that file - this way you'll also have the lip-syncing done. Well the character's lips are moving now. Thanks! But I used audacity to edit the MP3 and he's still not speaking anything. Should I use a different program or how should I set up the preferences. In the link HeyYou gave me they said to use a 64-bit sample format. My audacity (the latest beta) only goes as high as 32-bit float. Would that happen to be what's wrong? And if so how would I go about getting that 64-bit sample format? Again, thanks.
Zer0Suii
Nevermind. I got it. It helps if I read everything that a tutorial tells me than just look at pretty pictures and assume I know what I'm doing. Sorry for any inconveniences and confusion, folks! kwoodard65
Good Day, I am having the exact same issue as what has been addressed within this discussion thread. I have successfully recorded my voice against dialogue for my NPCs. I can play these wav files successfully apart from Oblivion. However, when I run my Mod under Oblivion and begin my NPC dialogue sequences, there is no playback for these files, much less any lip sync. Please provide a fix action for this issue. Thanks,Keith
fore
There are 2 main problems when making your own voice files: Audio settings: the engine is VERY restictive in the audio settings, and requires a very low level spec: mono, 64 kbps constant for mp3. Maybe for the wav also, but I'm not sure. See Audio_Settings_For_Dialogue_Video_TutorialLip sync. The lip sync is broken in the current CS. You have to use an old version just for creation of the lip sync. You can download it here Official Oblivion Construction Set. I think I'm using 1-02-000. You have to use this old CS with it's original name, so save your current CS in a different place. DON'T TRY TO OPEN/CONTINUE YOUR MOD WITH THIS OLDER VERSION, though. Make your lip syncs only with the old version, then go back to the new CS version. and rename those working (old version) lip syncs with the names generated by the (new version) CS. EDIT: and finally a strong recommendattion to all who create their own voice files. I always found it annoying to listen to my own voice in-game. So I was looking into possible voice generation programs. And the best option I found wasAT&T's Natural Voices. In my opinion the sound and versatility of this system is amazing. And even with the restrictions for the free-of-charge portion (limited to 300 characters, usages-per-day) I could easily live with. Try it.
