SageRaintree
I collected the trucks, I had over a hundred, not all hot wheels, some were knock offs. I gave them all to my nephew when I went in the service. Kinda regret that now.
Vindekarr
When I cleaned out my garage and found a bunch of old toys, I handed off half to charity, and the rest out to the children of friends I have, I thinbk you did the right thing. Toys are the playthings of children, it's onlyt right they be passed on to someone else.

Vindekarr
Sure does. Toys are for playing with, not lying on a shelf, and while that's on face value hypocritical from someone who's a collector of many things, it's something I stick by-just because you grow out of em doesnt mean someone who's folks cant afford 'em wouldnt be better off with em. Sad that some people just throw toys away, when you can just throw them to a charity, and have the certainty that you've made some poor little mite's day a little better. Illiad86
Oh jeez...my dad still collects Hot Wheels. When I was a kid, our front room had thousands of them on tables. People are pretty crazy with them...spokes are different or the window colour, they can be worth a lot of money. I remember we were at a toy show and he sold one for like $200! But he told me these days it's not like it used to be. He sells most of them on Ebay now. He doesn't make as much as he used to, but it's a nice little side job. He told me most of his customers are overseas, lots of people on Ebay don't want to ship internationally. Sheesh, we used to get up right before Toys R Us was open and he would ask the stockers if he could look through the cases before they put them up. He'd sit there for hours going through them, I was at the video game aisle lol. I still have a box full of them myself...mostly early-mid 90s Vipers, some of them treasure hunts :D One I do have is supposedly worth about $100 because it has different spokes :D You guys remember the old redlines from the 70s? Dad sold a Barracuda I think it was with bent up wheels and paint missing for $50 lol. It's crazy what people will pay for toys. thesnake87
Yeah I'm no where near that lol, I just get a few when I go to the store every so often and it's mainly the ones that catch my eye or are of cars I like like Ferrari's, Chevy Camaro's, Dodge Challengers, Vipers, and Chargers, etc... I do try and collect some variation, but I also do it for fun, I'm not part of Red Line or anything lol, but I can see myself when I'm older doing that just for the benefits. It's a cool hobby for sure, but sometimes people go over the edge, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think you guys get what I mean. I've gotten myself into a little hole with hockey cards once, though I still collect them I'm not buying every one I see of my favorite player or spending money to complete a set now. I think I'll let what I have sit for a while and slowly add onto it.
Lisnpuppy
My husband collects these things...he is..erm...45? LOL I don't say anything as its his one and only splurge in life and he only buys fromt he stores, not the collectors. I am sure he has many worth money but you will have to rip them from his cold, dead hands. Its a race to see if we can fill up the house with Hot Wheels and Match Box Cars or my books/video games first. :psyduck:
