New bill makes streaming a felony

So it would make it a felony to watch streamed things that are copyrighted...?

Or would it be for people who steam stuff?

Either way this is crazy, a lot of people don't even know if they are streaming copyrighted material.

I think it's for the people who actually stream it. I'm not sure if it means uploading to streaming sites or actually streaming stuff.

If you note it says UNAUTHORIZED. The majority of the things we do every day is an authorized release. I doubt this is more than bluster as it would be near impossible to actually enact and regulate.

[sarcasm] I wonder if this is going to affect Netflix? [/sarcasm]

It doesn't help that Klobuchar is from Minnesota. :pinch:

Here's how it would work in a simple to understand way .A music video is put out ,someone (You) from this site puts a link so people from the Nexus can watch video ,If the people who run the Nexus have not made a previous financial arrangement with the owner of the copyright ,they can be charged with a felony and sent to jail .This basic system would apply to any form of streaming.

This is just another step in control ,in controlling the means of communicating and diseminating information and the subsequent financial rewards that can be garnered by having such control. This is not the only example of such efforts , onerous copyright laws ,doing away with net neutrality ,throttling and a host of other means .Really this is getting so out of hand that its Orwellian ,sometimes I wonder am I waiting for a police state or do I already live in one.

I think this was already talked about in another thread. I'll try to find it.

Yup, it was back here, though no link was provided by the OP, the thread was inspired by the same bill.
