JimboUK
http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/380306/pc_gaming_stifled_by_consoles/ Some interesting thoughts from an AMD employee. I assume most of the people here are PC gamers so hopefully this shouldn't start a war.
brokenergy
I think it's still silly to blame one or another but rather than a number of factors. Besides, isn't there going to an announcement by MS about the new Xbox at E3?

Besides, isn't there going to an announcement by MS about the new Xbox at E3? It's Nintendo who are going to unveil their latest offering at E3 according to rumours. It uses the R700 apparantly, an odd choice given that it's already out of date (DX10.1 SM4.1).
antonkr
The more advanced and better consoles are the better it actually is for a pc. Think about it.If a console game can handle what it couldnt before, release of new consoles would mean the games for PC would also be better. Very true, at the moment all that extra power is just being wasted. One problem that newer hardware won't address is the oversimplification of games, developers need to pull their heads out of their behinds and realise that games are no longer just for kids. Vagrant0
You also forget that hardware in general has hit a bit of a brick wall over the last 2 or 3 years because of companies downsizing and few applications which try to push things further. The console game market, for all its flaws, is one of the few things even still, keeping many publishers above water. And for those who have a PC that outshines a console, you can really crank up the settings and enjoy. I wouldn't expect there to be too much advancement from where we're at until pointcloud rendering catches on.

Halororor
I believe this is going to be an issue until someday, someone standardizes the PC, which I would be glad to have happen.
