Fallout 4 Beta Update and DLC, Creation Kit News

I have been extremely satisfied with Fallout 4 and the building mods Homemaker, Ocdecorator, Springcleaning, Place in red, Better stores, Northland, Settlements object expansion pack, and those are just my favorite ones. Bethesda is going to really have to pull out all the stops to top the quality and quantity these mods are adding. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the modding community overtakes their ability to produce content that we like more than what we have done as a community, in other words, i hope any DLC or updates that adds structures, functions, landscaping, and Decor are extremely full of amazing building sets that aren't mostly covered by existing mods or else the creation kit could be abandoned, and incentive destroyed to further our modding/development community.

Installed the beta update. Got a couple of CTD's just walking around in Sanctuary Hills... uninstalled the update. I like the mods I currently have installed. I'll fight with it another day.

It's really cool that all the fools who bough a season pass when the game came out get more then whats promised, already a house mod, a quest mod, and an expansion sound great! Sure, would could make the same stuff with the Geck, but the they're trying to push the geck to consoles, and lets all be honest, ambitions projects like an expansion either turn out be finished and crap, or possibly good but stuck in development hell (project Brazil anyone?) It also doesn't make sense to make mods available to consoles, since that would technically give them a free alternative to content, but the genius of having the tools come-out after the dlc, is that a number of modders will be using dlc in their mods, thus having their mods require said assets, requiring the consumers of the free mods to buy said dlc, which is way more pressure to buy, and way more advertisement then they could ever buy.In fact, Beth will probably make a lot more money off of the people who don't buy the season pass, i.e. console players who won't be able to wait till the next steam sell to get the dlc at mark up prices, as well as the many other players who are just browsing for mods, and can't stand not being able to get the lastest front page eye candy because they don't have the dlc require to play it.

I think the delay was built into the model. Its just a good business practice to sell off as much of your product as possible, then the schematics to fix them.

I have the season pass and hope to get much more content. I look at it as hours of game time per dollar spent. There has been very few games that have given me so much return play time since Oblivion then Bethesda games. There certainly are lots of problems, things that should have been fixed prior to release. Such is life with Bethesda. They expect the community will fix/append/overcome issues they themselves either can't or wont fix. We all enjoy their works and we just as much enjoy the incredible talent here on Nexus.

Those who opt to not get the pass will be left behind like in Skyrim. As the mods become more integrated with the content from them, the less will be available for those who declined the purchase.

Turns out software development is a lot of work, and teams have to prioritize their decisions based on what's best for the company.

Patience is a virtue.

It was the same for me. I get a decent 6ofps. It looked good. I played for about 30 seconds walking in Sanctuary and just got a sudden crash. Happened a 2nd time and I looked on the boards to see what people were saying. Didn't see much info on crashing. I uninstalled the update.

100% agreed with kebrus on this. They know the capability of the modders now following the modding community's success with Skyrim. Business wise it is not wise to give consumers the ability to create content at no cost rather than only have paid content available. Its really obvious, any notion aside from the aforementioned derives from being naive.

Whether it is right or wrong is none of our business as the consumer. Edited by djekmiami
