greentea101
I bring up the "Run" dialog box with Win+R, and enter "f". If you want details on the mechanisms that make that work, just ask.
RelicDuDe
That's a good idea about starting Steam with Windows but doesn't it slow down your loading time and then use up a lot of background resources? It's kind of annoying to open it and have it running even if I'm just turning on the PC to edit some photos or something and not play games. My computer is always on.. 24/7. as I move my recorded game video files, (I record everything...) while i sleep. I too edit video, write my biography.. etc... but i still have Steam running. I don't think my computer minds much with 16384MB RAM. that is, i never have problem with or because of it. Its a goods idea to check and minimize what starts with windows.. shut down all unnecessary memory resident programs, but Steam is almost a must for me... as even as an retired old timer, the thing i do most, is gaming. Maybe thats why i'm not dead yet...:)

I generally use "Search Everything" to find things in Windows 7 since I have about 3 terabytes worth of files to often sort through on my harddrives. Is there a better search function for Windows? I absolutely do not do this and I typically start Steam with internet disconnected so it will run in offline mode. That said, Steam really doesn't use a lot of resources. Interesting point. Is there any way to keep Steam in "offline" mode so it doesn't auto-update? I totally forgot that was possible.
matrxhasyou1983
I have to launch with the fallout configurator utility. The stock launcher hasn't worked for me since 1.3 came out. Even after I completely blew away FO4 and reinstalled. I click play on steam, FO4 launcher appears. I click play on that, steam says preparing to launch, then goes back to the launcher, game never starts. Several other people also have this issue. Not sure what the root cause is. I use ZoneAlarm and just deny Steam access until I'm ready to do an update or download a new game.
Rabbit1251
My Steam loads along with Windows at start up. Their are no real mods that need F4SE as yet so I use the default Launcher. No delays or issues so far. Rabbit
snapper69
My PC is on 24/7, I click the Steam icon, then, while it's doing it's thing, start NMM, click the start FO4 button at the top of NMM, then go downstairs and make a coffee. Come back up, drink coffee, by which time I can select "click any button to start" I moved Fallout 4 to a spare SSD and finally worked out how to install NMM 0.61.14 and now it starts in about 15 seconds, so a HUGE improvement.
