I guess I don't know how mods work. I assumed if a mod made use of a workbench and an update altered that same workbench then the mod would be broken. Mark it up to 'newbie'.

Most DLC's and updates add new records to the game. The only two ways a mod becomes broken is if it is corrupt(made with xSnip or another tool that can't handle record structure properly, or the mod maker didn't know what they were doing when they made it) or if the records it references/adds/overwrites are changed by another plugin further up in the load order.

I can understand why someone would think that coming from other games, though.

Until recently I had been a fairly prolific author in Neverwinter's "Foundry" UGC system.

Every time they made an update, the Foundry got screwed up. Every. Single. Time.

And sometimes even when there wasn't an update, just for fun.

Add to that devs who didn't care about Foundry because it "wasn't monetizable", and you had a really broken and depressing place to build things.

It's so nice to be somewhere that isn't like that now, where I can build stuff that other people can use to enhance a game, without all of the glitchiness and drama.
