Shivala
I recently installed the Bethesda HD texture pack while reinstalling Skyrim. I was getting lots of CTDs at some point, purple textures and so on. Turns out it is the HD pack, googling I found more ppl had the same experience. I switched to Skyrim HD mod, has twice the resolution of Beths pack and it runs smooth like butter. Don't use the original HD pack!
Boombro
There is nothing wrong with beth pack, been using it for a year just fine as a base. Are you sure you had enough vram and the patch? Edited March 1, 2016 by Boombro
Madcat221
Do you have a 32-bit OS or a 64-bit OS?
Shivala
I have 2gb vram and 64bit win 7... Is 2 too low? And what patch would be needed?
jones177
I think there is a lot wrong with the HD pack. It causes all what Shivala mentioned if you don't use the unofficial patch on it. I also found that they are not an improvement over the vanilla textures at 1440 & 2160. For example. Bridge walls. Vanilla look pixely at 1440 & 2160. Add the HD pack & they still look pixely. Add the bridge wall texture from "aMidianBorn Landscape" & now the bridges look perfect even at 4k. The same goes for rock textures, tree bark textures & so on. Some of the Bethesda's texture work is brilliant & some is just sad. Later
