dpgillam
Im working on a mod that will include sexual orientation for marriage; not every member of the same sex will hit on you, but also some of the opposite will be uninterested too. Im looking at roughly 90% straight, 5% Bi, and 2% homo, since that seems to be the common number of most census studies performed by GLAAD and other activist groups. (I allowed for MOE) So that leads to the very obvious question - who in Skyrim is/appears to be homosexual?
SPH1
IMO, this is a mod that doesn't have to be made. Everyone already plays according to their orientation, I would suppose. If not, then they are truly playing a fantasy. Is your idea to bring political correctness into the game? Edited March 1, 2016 by SPH1
cdcooley
The game already restricts who is interested in you. Of all of the NPCs in the game only 30 female and 36 male characters are ever interested in marrying you. If you're creating a specific NPC with a distinct personality and sexual preference then adding restrictions for that NPC makes sense, but some overall quota imposed on the existing characters in the game doesn't. ironbender800
what hes saying is that the marriageable characters in game dont have any specific sexual preference. they will agree regardless of your gender. he wants to change that. Cicero seems kinda gay.
Lachdonin
Frankly, I'd say pick at random. There aren't really any specific criteria or tells that indicate someone is heterosexual or homosexual. Especially not with the limited interactions most video games offer. People just act like people. Even absurdly flamboyant individuals aren't always gay. Moksha8088
Interesting NPCs has some marriageable characters with either a straight, bisexual or homosexual preferences. In the vanilla game, my best guess is Belethor in Whiterun.
skyquest32
You want the gay straight ratio, to represent actual reality and not be a alien world where no one cares and seems unconcerned with reproduction, at least where the player character is concerned...well why not think of it like this...its not that they are gay or straight, its just that its you, isn't it? The dragonborn! And...your a star, a bright shining star! Even straight/gay men and/or women want to marry you. Think of that. That said the jester is probably, truly gay. iXenite
Interesting concept. I kind of agree that NPC's should be restricted in this aspect. The player character can be whatever they want, but like in real life, the NPC's should not be whatever the player wants them to be. Having one character, a male, romance Ysolda for instance can be immersive. Starting another playthough as a female character, and then falling for Ysolda all over again is not very immersive (in my opinion). Why? It's the player that likes Ysolda at this point, thus they are forcing Ysolda to bend to their roleplay. Real life doesn't work like that, it should be the same in our games. You roleplay your character, not the NPC's around them. With all that said, Uthgerd the Unbroken seems like she might be a lesbian. I also agree that Cicero seems likely to be gay (or maybe bi), but he's not marriageable.
dpgillam
Ironbender800 and DaddyDirection have explained why far better than I could.Thank you, gentlemen. Im not sure I can see Cicero as having a preference outside of necrophilia, given his obsession with the Nightmother. Maybe thats just me, but the dude is worse than any clingy ex Ive ever seen. I could see Uthgerd being Butch. She's got that "strong, independent woman; dont need no man" vibe without being too extreme about it. Which is why I dont think Sapphire would be: she tries to be tough, but it comes off as false bravado, rather than real strength.
soupdragon1234
Wow theres certainly some stereotyping coming out here. And just because Uthgerd is "butch" as you put it doesn't necessarily mean she's a lesbian. You simply can't categorize people like that. (And Aela or Nadia or Ria the fully paid up Companions warriors aren't? Why? Because they're attractive?) Speaking from personal experience you literally wouldn't know until they told you. :armscrossed: I've always suspected the Companions women of being more than merely furries but thats really the point of the game being a blank slate your imagination can wander wherever it decides to go. As for Sapphire not being one because she's not butch enough and clearly needs a strong man to take care of her... if you want a mod full of cliche's thats your business I guess.
