Feedback required: file database tagging

I see that I did misunderstand the intent of the original post! I thought he was looking for comments on tagging system! Not just tag suggestions.

For the tags: one word tags; i.e. Armor, male, female as opposed to 'Armor - male'. because it someone is looking for something in search the will more than likely put armor then narrow that down with 'male' or 'light'. Unless the only way folks will have to search is a check-box.

If you want some thoughts on the tag / search function then read on. If not thats ok :)

I looked at the music site and the tag system can still use a logical tree structure. It will just be a little more structured than the music one. The OP just needs to decide how structured he wishes to make the selection process and the tagging process.

Certain tags can relate to several categories but some tags will be category specific.

Armor and Clothes can have a male or female tag, but only Armor will use a heavy or light tag.

So not every tag will have a sub-category but for refining your search I think sub-category (category specific tags) would be helpful. And not every tag will be needed for every category. e.g. Real estate needs: House, castle, city, etc. But does not need the male, female tag :) I hope that makes sense.

With the selection system you can be a bit more concise with each selection you make.

A bit on the tagging system. The voting thing sounds like it could get messy. Not saying that it can't be helpful.

It would be nice if the uploader just has a quick section to check a few boxes to make the initial tags. Maybe an option for Basic or Advanced tag selection? Basic selection = broad categories (10-20) and Advanced = all tag options.

Maybe put a limit on the number of tags a file can have as well. Might take a little trial and error to decide on a good number but pick either 5 or 10 to start and go from there.

Once again, this is all dependent on how much time and effort you wish to put into the tagging system and the search function.

Have a great day

The male/female suggestion was very good. I set them by themselves since they can now be used in combination with NPCs, Companions, Clothing, etc.

An attempt of confirming the tag removes this tag from pending and it becomes available to choose as my own suggestion. Thus I conclude that my attempt of confirming simply removes the tag.

I made sure that I press the green tick button, not the red cross. I tried it like five times, all the same.

Can anyone prove that the confirming works?

Was a bug in the system. Your vote counted but I was counting pending tags as < 2 and > 0, when it should have been < 3. I was never good at maths ;D

We have a tag for OBSE, but not MWSE, MWE, or MGE. None of those really qualify as "mods," so "Mod Dependency" is inappropriate.

I don't have Morrowind so I'm not familiar with any of those.

I did a quick search and found what I think these are:

MWE (Morrowind Enhanced Dev Kit)

MGE (Morrowind Graphics Extender)

MWSE (Morrowind Script Extender)

Are these correct?

Also, how many mods on TESNexus are related (and require) these tools?

Those would be correct. Sorry, I suppose I could have been more specific. As far as how many mods on Nexus use them, I'm not sure, because I've spent most of my time so far uploading images to items and locations. Most mods requiring these would be in "Gameplay Effects and Changes." However, many mods released recently require these - MWSE especially - and, since I hope to ultimately attract some Morrowind modders back to Dark0ne's site, it would be useful to have them available as tags in the future.

Well, I looked around on the Admin pages but didn't see where I could add new tag entries. It used to be there on TESSource but since Dark0ne was not allowed to re-use any existing code, I think he hasn't had time to re-create those admin pages. Once the admin pages become available, I'll add these new tags.

Do you think that just the initials will be sufficient or should they be spelled out? I wondered if I should also spell out the other abbreviations. Another possibility (but would require Dark0ne's coding) could be the use of the Acronym HTML tag that lets you visually use something like OBSE but if your mouse points over it, it spells out "Oblivion Script Extender" as a tooltip.
