The Thread of Computers (aka will my computer run Skyrim)

When can we expect Bethsheda posting system requirements for Skyrim? I'm going to buy new PC and I'd love to run Skyrim at highest quality. I don't want to delay buying it though. Maybe you can estimate how Skyrim will run, judging by new setup:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz, AM3

ASUS M5A78L

Radeon HD 6870 1GB

4GB DDR3 1333 Hz

500GB HDD

Win7

Make sure you do Win7 64 bit, so when you want to jump to 6 or 8GB ram, you dont have wipe out the system. At this point, there really is no reason to ever install a 32 bit OS. A 1Tb HD is not much more than a 500GB, so you might think about that too.

Good to see the AMD Phenom processors getting some love! I've got the following, just built;-

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T (overclocked itself automatically to something insane like about 4.2Ghz...think that's it...)

ASUS Crosshair IV Formula Motherboard

Sapphire ATI Radeon 6950 2048Mb (flashed to a 6970)

Corsair XMS DDR3 RAM 8GB

Hitachi DeskStar 7200rpm 2TB HDD

Coolermaster HAF 932 full tower.

Windows 7 64 bit

Would I gain anything from getting another matching video card? I am hoping to max Skyrim with that.

Nice specs!

I don't think you need another GPU to play Skyrim on max, and you wouldn't gain much with another one, unless you play on bigger resolutions with multiple monitors.

I myself have a 6870 and a Phenom II x6 1090T, I'm expecting to run it on max with 4 AA and 8 AF.

And since your GPU and CPU are a bit better then mine you are all set for maximum awesomeness

Intel 80386

2 MB of RAM

8MB HDD

DOS 3.1

EGA Graphics

I shouldn't have any issues.

2 MB of RAM? A little overkill don't you think? 1500kb of that will never get used, you realise this right?

I don't listen to that Bill Gates, his company will never be more than a bit player in the operating system market.
