Xionith
Almost every video game I have played there are no kids! (Except like 'backyard soccer' and stuff like that, but I mean rpg's or action games) what happened to them? What is your opinion on this strange phenomen?

Rynos
In games where you can kill things(morrowind, Dukenukem, etc.) they dont want you killing kids...
Akrid
I agree with Rynos, if game developers can't let you kill certain charecter's it makes the game feel fake. However if you want to kill kids then check out- oop's off topic. Anyway maybe they'll make a mod for kid's in morrowind, you can load them up with all your junk and buy and sell them, train them to fight and change their names to confuse them.
Faust870
In games where you can kill things(morrowind, Dukenukem, etc.) they dont want you killing kids... Lol I just realized that, NO KIDS IN MORROWIND...everyone is middle aged...mmm, it doesnt make sense, how does the morrowind inhabitants reproduce? This is very awkward..!! lol... Akrid
I think they all arrive on small boats in seyda neen, either that or their born full grown.
wesaynothin
At least Morrowind has a good explanation... The elves are selectively fertile. They only reproduce when they need too. The other races are immigrants, probably securing a home and job before the rest of the family comes on over.
ThetaOrionis01
Well, I don't know if the absence of kids is a new-ish thing, but Ultima 9 had quite a few children in it - including a brat hurling fireballs at you if you didn't give him any money. IIRC there was no loss of karma for terminating the urchin with extreme prejudice. :nazgul: Much more harrowing for some - by what I gleaned from the forums - was a scene in the final dungeon in Ultima 9 where a little girl begged the Avatar to kill her. Whether the Avatar decided to comply with her request and end her misery, or whether the Avatar would tell her he couldn't do it, the Guardian would cruelly mock the choice - calling the Avatar either a child killer, or accusing him of having no mercy - and either way the Avatar would be left with a guilty conscience. Very much a scene designed to get the player thinking, IMO BTW - please take any discussion of the Morrowind birthrate to the Morrowind Lore forum
Xionith
Yes, Rynos has a good explanation for it, they dont want you killing kids. I dont know the thought just struck me as I was playing most of my video games in one day... None of them had kids.
Switch
Indeed. That is the reason Morrowind has no kids, I think it's even outlawed in a number of countries. As for how all Dunmer are middle-aged, this was discussed in another thread a while ago, I would go into detail but that would make this go OT, as Theta said, stuff like that belongs in Lore :P
