I have to disagree, it a legit way to make the game harder in some games.

And hours over again? You can always find a bed close by in FO4. It would take at most 10-30 minutes.

Not necessarily true. In many cases it will be closer, in others not do much because there might be problems.

Earlier today I was over at Greentop. Was doing a MM quest for get it as a settlement. I had been there a few times before on another play through but didn't really scope out the area. I couldn't find a bed I could use there, so I headed off to find one. About an hour later I found one ... in a Vault ... that I could only use because I fought all the people there.

Now, granted. I knew what I was getting into and could have made it to Tenpines or Starlight in less that 10 minutes, but I was looking for the nearest bed, and I knew one would be there.

Then there is the Water Treatment Plant you need to clear to Graygarden. The nearest is maybe 2 minutes away, but it is locked behind an Advanced Lock, So you need Lockpick 1. A popular perk, but no guaranty everyone will take it. A bit farther out is a camp ground to the West and Oberon Station to the East. Both maybe 5 minutes? Then North of Graygarden maybe a minute is the Junkyard and a campground. And of course Graygarden itself maybe 5 minutes from the plant. And the brewery between Oberon and Graygarden. Graygarden and Oberon you have to ally with and the others you have to clear.

That said. I agree with Relic. Save on Sleep only won't make the game harder. It will make it more annoying.

The Gunners I fought in the Vault only almost killed me because I have a mod that removes the 90% damage reduction in VATS, not because I didn't save. My last save was in Starlight from before I headed to Greentop.

That, that said. It will make you play differently. However, it is something you can already do without mods or any official change. It's how I'm playing my current play through. Why force it on players who want most if not all of the other Survival Mode changes?

That easy, to change the player mind set.

Let say the game disables fast travel, the map, the compass. It forces all players to have a mindset about the gameplay since it drastically changes the game. Like the the illusion of choice, the quests writers want you reach that ending, now the gameplay coders want the same thing. They want the player to have the same scope to view the game from.

Yeah, it needs to be optional as it is quite divisive. That said, it really is aimed to eliminate quick save, run in, die, quickload over and over. Which a lot of people abuse when its available. I mean, they really couldve taken the DayZ approach and had basically 1 save when you quit, but if you die, you're done. Its actually how I plan to play at first, as I love the idea of DayZ within fallout.

I like to have fun while i play.. die seldom... i like to avoid dying. Enjoy my surroundings, and the music... and spend quite a long time sneaking trough bad guys/girls infested buildings, taking them out one by one, preferably without anyone of them have ever even seen me. Some do.. for about 2 secs before they die. I need my sanitary breaks, often... specially after i have taken my medicines... i have been gaming since 1979, i guess that most of you where still in your fathers binoculars at that time. I chose my nick with a reason. and however i was a hardcore FPS player for a long time, before i discovered RPG's.. i have never played a game yet that i couldn't save.

And i am not about to start now.

its a cheap way of "Making the game more difficult.." because it isn't.. enemies don't get smarter or hit harder.. nothing in the game is getting harder or more difficult to do. You don't get more enemies. which would be fine with me.. what does it make harder ?... nothing. All it does is make the annoyance level higher. its just as cheap as a QTE to defeat a boss. (are you listening.. Tomb raider ?...)

If you don't agree.. you have that right, and we have to agree to disagree... but for me.. there is NO way i am going to accept this no saving crap. even if i have to go learn modding and build a damn save option myself... at the end of the day, its a bleeming game.. immersion is all well and fine... but there are limits.. and this is one, for me anyway.

They should make it permadeath, and let us save when we want.. now that's hardcore....

Its a nice feature that will get many people hyped...

Then people will discover that its a very heinously bad feature in the light of actively modding ones game.

I'm a bit amazed at how this has sparked a discussion at all as its just a very bad idea, I don't even have to put a thought into why....It should just have been obvious at its inception.

Please fire the guy that came up with this idea. He should not be working for a company that supports game modding as he doesn't understand basic concepts.

The end.

Remove Fast Travel, Map, AND Compass? Really? So I have to draw my own maps now like games from the 80s. I'd rather let the computer on my wrist do it.

Illusion of Choice. The Quest Makers can't plan for everything that millions of players would come up with to do, so yeah, choices are limited and they try to give it an illusion. But the people in charge of game play need to make the most people that are playing happy. It is a game after all.

I have to disagree, such gameplay is fun when done well.

But people have varied tastes.

Morrowind players liked asking and looking around instead of markers, relying on good quest descriptions instead. Risen let you buy a map and compass but they not as handy, dark souls has none and let you relay on your brain more. I played minecraft for a while, made my base facing west and when going out I would look where the sun is and head back. I like all of that instead of how FO4 handles it to be honest.

I personally feel beth should give quests more clear descriptions so players who dislike quest markers can play better.
