Robert's Male Body No Eyes?

Well, I tried installing a bunch of body mods from this page, only to end up with empty-see through eye sockets and black eyes. Well, I used OMODS, so I uninstalled everything, which fixed the problem, then reinstalled Roberts, and lo and behold, the eye problem is back. Is this a problem with Robert's Current (Slender) male body mod?

It's the "googly eye" problem. It seems to happen even with mods that work fine for other people. In fact, sometimes it'll happen even on a mod that you've installed on the same machine and know for a fact is good (for example, for me it's DesuChan's Persocoms Reconstructed, which was working fine yesterday, and now suddenly has googly eyes).

That being said, I honestly don't know a universal way to fix it. Maybe somebody else here can shed some light on it. All I know is that googling for googly eyes (lol?) will give all kinds of solutions, mostly relating to the eye mesh/texture stuff.

Also make sure you're NOT using both plugins coming with Robert's at the same time. There's the normal one "MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp" and then there's a compatibility plugin for Beautiful People "Beautiful PeopleV22 - MaleReplacerV4.esp". The latter you should ONLY use when you do indeed have Beautiful People installed and running. Using the wrong one or BOTH is known to cause exactly what you're describing here. That's why I'm telling. And installing through OBMM "both" will be activated by default, if I recall correctly.

The usual cause of black eyes is that you have conflicting cosmetic mods. Probably the easiest way to fix that once you are sure you are not running two versions of the Robert body is to use Wrye Bash. If you build a bashed patch and click Race Records, Bash will attempt to sort eyes and hair by race, eliminating these conflicts. Before you do that, I suggest you run BOSS from within Wrye Bash to get a good load order. If you have a big cosmetic compilation mod like Beautiful People or Comprehensive Style Collection, it usually helps to load that one last so it "wins" conflicts.

Some more detail on the google eye problem. For whatever reason, when people began to make custom eyes, they didn't all agree on one custom eye mesh. Also one of the meshes maps eyes completely differently. There are at least 4 meshes I know of for eyes. Not all cosmetic mods with eyes will even tell you which mesh they use. Sometimes mods you might not expect to add custom eyes add them. For example if you download a house with servants, you may get custom eyes you didn't expect. If you are careful you may be able to pick one type of custom eye mesh, such as Elaborate Eyes and only download mods that use that same mesh. You could also go into CS and add and remove eyes yourself to solve this problem. More control but more hassle. Me, I just use Bash. If you find that you still have some googly eyes after bashing with race records checked, rebuild the bashed patch a second time with Race Records checked again. That's a trick I have not heard anyone else mention on the boards, but it works for me. Bash re-sorts if you do that. Also if you have the Cobl and you are using the special races, it helps if you just use the races themselves and not the other race overhauls from Cobl. You do still need the Cobl cosmetic resources to make those races appear correctly. You will know if you have the Cobl-specific problem if the emperor, Palonirya(elf vendor in IC) and Cpt Reynaud in the tutorial all have weird eyes but most other NPCs look normal.

Just for future reference, the V5 beta package does only include the "MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp". Using this one instead of the V4 fixing the issue now means the "Beautiful PeopleV22 - MaleReplacerV4.esp" or using both plugins at once was the cause here.

My understanding is that the MaleReplacerV4.esp in the beta package is actually v5 but the name of the .esp was not changed.

Neither was the content. But how could it anyways? All it contains is racial settings for the default races, telling each of them where to find its skin textures and the tails for the beasts. None of those locations or filenames have changed, so the settings shouldn't have either.

I was having this problem as well with the Male Body Replacer not just having the empty googly black eyes, but no eyes at all!

EDIT* Sorry, I also forgot to mention Im also using beautiful people. I convert most things to Omods, (except full esp mods). I was taught as rule of thumb that mainly anything with texture and mesh folders get turned into an omod. Of course this can pose problems. Im just not very fluent in installing mods manually.

EDIT#2

Well I downloaded Roberts Male V5 and disabled a couple of beautiful people ESP's and, EVERYONE HAS EYES!

Also if you are using Roberts Male Body stock armor and clothing mod it WILL work (my gut said it would )

So if you are still stuck on the problem with black googly eyes or no eyes at all, download V5 and see if that fixes the problem.

Also, on a tangentially related note: Characters with bright purple arms! My FCOM installation gives some people mismatching bodies, and some googly NPC eyes. I currently have my cosmetic mods disabled, NPC unlocker enabled, so I think it's an FCOM/TNR thing. My bashed patch has import options for NPC faces and graphics checked for FCOM and TNR. Any ideas on what might be causing it?
