Nexus site laggy on chrome

Now first off i didn't see any other place to post this problem, so hopefully this one is correct.

Now to the point, not exactly sure when this started happening but about a month ago or so i believe nexus sites (skyrim, fallout 4, dying light, etc..) have been super laggy on my chrome browser, if i scroll down it's laggy like when you have 5 or less fps in a game, same goes with opening images, you can see it skip frames when it opens up instead of it being smooth, but when i tried it on my firefox browser it was all good no lags at all.

Now before someone says clear your cache, history etc... in my chrome i already tried that & it didn't work, i never had this issue before on chrome & i been using chrome for ages to browse through all the sites here.

Have you tested on a different browser? Try the portable Chrome for testing - available here, DO NOT add any add ons before testing, and be sure that your installed version is not running when you test. I suggest rebooting your computer before testing.

OR, here is a list of portable versions of several browsers you can test. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet

Have you tried changing your DNS?

Have you checked for malware such as trackers, redirects, adware, Browser 'Helper' trash and useless toolbars that are installed by some free sites? :yucky: Not all antiviruses remove these as they do sort of ask your permission, but often in ways you won't even notice unless you read their 10 page TOS.

Nexus does not and has never included anything extra in our downloads.

Check to be sure something has not changed your homepage to a bogus redirect look alike page.

The program I currently use for getting rid of garbage like those is called JRT ( Junkware Removal Tool) it is owned by MalwareBytes - a respected antivirus company - and is FREE. Really free as in no pay for an update free and is updated often. It runs very quickly ( under 5 minutes on my system) Get it here. https://www.malwarebytes.org/junkwareremovaltool/

After running you can delete it as is does not check anything unless you run it. And does not leave anything behind when removed. It can even be run from a USB stick.

That looks awfully like a copy paste :( & if you read you'd notice i tried it on Firefox & it worked fine there, it always worked fine on Chrome as well until about a month ago, i don't have any extra crap installed

You won't even know if you have any extra crap installed. The crap people hide it from you to keep you from knowing. That is what JRT is for.

Not a copy paste, although I do post this often for people who honestly think they can't be affected because they are just too careful even though they didn't read those long obscure TOS that tell you that if you continue a 'helpful' app 'MAY' be installed to 'assist' you in using the internet. :pinch: Some previously ligit download sites such as Cnet now have these 'helpful' apps that can slow your browser down.

The biggest offender is a program called Conduit, although it uses several other names for obscurity. They actually hijack the advertising and reroute it though their own ad server so they get the revenue instead of the legitimate ad servers. Many antivirus don't remove it or do an incomplete job allowing it to reinstall itself from hidden entries in the Windows registry. JRT is updated every time one of these malware apps changes its name or how it hides. And JRT always checks for its own updates before running so you will always have the up to date version even if you try to run from an old one.

Seriously, just run JRT. It only takes a few minutes and you may be surprised.

Wow, turns out I had conduit on my pc and I don't have a clue how it got there.

I just ran JRT and 38 instances (entries?) were deleted from my pc. So thank you for that information and link.

Btw, does this crapware slow down our game as well?

Probably not, unless you have your browser open and actually doing something in the background.

It's not uncommon for me to have a game open on one screen and a browser open on another where I am waiting for something to come in such as an email from a customer. This can slow the game some, and the crapware will probably add some to the slowdown.

I have my own opinion on what should be done to the guys behind conduit, but none that I can post on a family friendly site.

Go in to your preferences and turn off the "site skin" option. Does that fix the issue?

praised be, scrolling is smooth and picture opening is almost completely smooth too, but there's no background anymore just a killer white for my eyes xD
