Are there any good shadow optimization tweaks out there?

**EDIT: I've found what I was looking for. I don't know why it took so much digging. For future reference, ENBoost and lighting mods did not help. For anyone else having issues with shadows, this did:

I've seen a few, but they don't seem relevant to my issues, since most tweaks have to do with God Rays or shadows being rendered right in front of the PC. I've already gone about fixing these problems for myself.

Changing the shadow resolution to a higher setting in the fo4prefs ini seems to cause some undesirable....holes...in shadows rendered on faces. For instance, Garvey's hat brim shadow only shades the lower portion of his face, and his forehead is miraculously open to all incoming light. (If left unchanged at the default resolution, shadows on my character's neck from her flowy physics hair get *way* out of hand and look godawful, like black, fluttering smog that is somehow attracted only to her lovely lady neck. Not sure if this is due solely to having physics-y hair.) Its all very reminiscent of shadow-rendering issues in Skyrim, but fixing that was a breeze.

I just want to peek over some good material regarding high-quality shadows if anyone has any. My search over the past two days hasn't really turned anything up. It could be that I'm just blind as a bat and missing some things that've been in my face the whole time.

My specs are pretty decent, so I'm not *too* worried about performance hits.

Thanks, community. I look forward to your suggestions.

Maybe have a look at some ENBoost presets or a mod which changes the lighting setting in the game?

I'll give that a shot. I do use Vogue ENB with its default ReShade settings; not sure if that really changes much as far as shadows go.

I've never had much luck with ENBoost, as it usually fudges with some settings I like to adhere to . (At least, this was true for Skyrim.) Maybe things will be different this time! Thanks for your suggestion. There are probably some good lighting mods out there.

I'm currently using Vogue too, though I'm about to go back to the "Reshade" preset I used before. I also use Fr4nsson's Light Tweaks, which add some nice effects to shadows, in combination with Darker Nights and Interiors Enhanced...

Have fun, pickyourpoison (Southern Comfort's mine)
